K$Ellie Posted December 10, 2022 Author Posted December 10, 2022 starting with some good but not GREAT albums...
K$Ellie Posted December 10, 2022 Author Posted December 10, 2022 (edited) 50. Let's Eat Grandma - I'm All Ears Not a bad album at all but a pretty big disappointment considering I'm All Ears was #2 of 2022 and in my top 10 of the decade. Hall Of Mirrors sounded like a reject but that ended up being the best thing about it and then the title track randomly hit so the first two singles ended up being the best songs. A solid album overall but not worth the four year wait. Happy New Year: 5.5 Levitation: 8 Watching You Go: 7.5 Hall of Mirrors: 9.5 Insect Loop: 6 Sunday: 9 Strange Conversations: 8 Two Ribbons: 9 =7.8 49. Pusha - It's Almost Dry Hadn't heard anything from him before but this was quite good. Brambleton and Rock N Roll were the best songs. I liked everything but didn't really STAN anything on the album. Brambleton: 9 Let The Smokers Shine The Coupes: 6 Dreamin Of The Past: 7 Neck & Wrist: 8.5 Just So You Remember: 8 Diet Coke: 7 Rock N Roll: 9 Call My Bluff: 8 Scrape It Off: 8 Hear Me Clearly: 8 Open Air: 7.5 I Pray For You: 8 =7.8 48. Tate McRae - i used to think i could fly I won't pretend she's some sort of excellent artist, her music is mostly rip offs or Tiktok bait which is fine bc it's fun and inoffensive! she's all i wanna be and what would you do? are major bops and even the fillers on this aren't too bad. don’t come back: 6 i’m so gone: 7.5 what would you do?: 10 chaotic: 7.5 hate myself: 7 what’s your problem?: 8.5 she’s all i wanna be: 9 boy x: 6 you’re so cool: 8 feel like ****: 8.5 go away: 7.5 i still say goodnight: 8 =7.8 47. Demi Lovato - HOLY **** Didn't have much faith in this album but it wasn't half bad! Some songs come off as early 00s Avril rejects but she pulled most of this off quite well. Hoping for more industrial bangers like Eat Me in the future. Overall a huge step up from the last album and a close second to Tell Me You Love Me. Freak: 8.5 Skin of my Teeth: 8.5 Substance: 6.5 Eat Me: 10 Holy ****: 8.5 29: 6.5 Happy Ending: 8 Heaven: 8 City of Angels: 8 Bones: 9.5 Wasted: 7 Come Together: 7 Dead Friends: 7 Help Me: 8.5 Feed: 7 4 Ever 4 Me: 7 =7.8 46. Becky G - ESQUEMAS Used to be OBSESSED with her when I was about 15 but I hadn't kept up with her since she switched to reggaeton which is usually fairly bland to me. I decided to check this out after Mamii and was pleasantly surprised. A few fillery songs but also some big bops that were almost on par with her Dr Luke English bops like Kill Bill, Baile Con Mi Ex and Mamii Buen Dia: 9 Fulanito: 8.5 Tajin: 8.5 Flashback: 6 Baile Con Mi Ex: 9.5 Dolores: 7 Una Mas: 7.5 Borracha: 8 Kill Bill: 9.5 Que Le Muerda: 6.5 Guapa: 6.5 Ram Pam Pam: 6 No Mienten: 8 Mamiii: 9.5 =7.9 45. Danger Mouse & Black Thought - Cheat Codes Not something I'd spam and I wasn't as obsessed with this as rym was but still a very cool album, enjoyed most of the songs. Didn't think there were that many great rap albums this year but i'd much prefer something like this over the basic main rap boys Sometimes: 7.5 Cheat Codes: 6.5 The Darkest Part: 7 No Gold Teeth: 8.5 Because: 7 Belize: 9 Aquamarine: 9 Identical Deaths: 8.5 Strangers: 7.5 Close To Famous: 6.5 Saltwater: 9 Violas and Lupitas: 8.5 =7.9 44. Hyd - Clearing Trust, So Clear and Chlorophyll are smashes. Some of the more basic songs drag it down but not enough to ruin the album. Hoping for more experimental bops in the future! Trust: 10 Fallen Angel: 9 So Clear: 9.5 Oil + Honey: 6.5 Breaking Ground: 6 Chlorophyll: 9 Glass: 8 The Real You: 7 Bright Light: 6 Only Living For You: 7.5 Afar: 8.5 =7.9 42. FKA twigs - CAPRISONGS Very much a mixtape, I prepared myself for basic sellout bops but it wasn't even that kind of all over the place and nowhere near as good as her albums but I liked it about as much as I thought I would. papi bones, ride the dragon, honda and thank you song were the standouts, papi was my least favorite but now it might even be better than some songs off Magdalene... ride the dragon: 9 honda: 9 meta angel: 7.5 tears in the club: 8 oh my love: 7 light beamers: 5 papi bones: 10 which way: 8 jealousy: 8 careless: 7 minds of men: 8 darjeeling: 7 thank you song: 9 =7.9 #42. Maggie Lindemann - SUCKERPUNCH A small step down after her last release which was around 8.2 for me so not too bad! Wasn't a fan of the singles but they grew once I heard the full album. casualty of your dreams is clearly her best song would be on par with Paranoia if she left off 2 or 3 fillers take me nowhere: 8.5 she knows it: 10 casualty of your dreams: 10 self sabotage: 6.5 phases: 6.5 im so lonely with you: 8.5 break me: 8 girl next door: 9.5 we never even dated: 8 novocaine: 8.5 you’re not special: 7 hear me out: 7 how could you do this to me: 6.5 cages: 6.5 =7.9 41. Lolo Zouaï - PLAYGIRL: 8.0 Some fun bops on this album, especially UK GARAGE banger Crazy Sexy Dream Girl enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would, if she deleted the two fillers she'd have a mid 8, very consistent album outside of that Playgirl: 8.5 VHS: 7.5 Crazy Sexy Dream Girl: 10 Give Me A Kiss: 8.5 Blur: 6 Gummy Bear: 9 Tamagotchi: 7.5 Picking Berries: 9 Don’t Buy Me Flowers: 6 Open The Door: 8.5 Room: 8.5 Skin & Bones: 7 Free Trial: 8.5 =8.0 Edited December 10, 2022 by K$Ellie
K$Ellie Posted December 10, 2022 Author Posted December 10, 2022 50. Soccer Mommy - Darkness Forever such a cool horror movie vibe, my favorite song from her hope she has more dark-sounding songs like this on her next album 49. Nayeon - POP! the iconicly terrible snippet for this was sooooooo but then somehow the song turned out really catchy and cute, miles better than their own title track from this year and the GP agrees! 48. YENA - SMILEY (feat. Bibi) the 11/10 chorus makes up for the mid verses, such a cute fun bop! 47. Addison Rae - I Got It Bad we were robbed of her music career, best Tiktok girl (followed by Leah Kate) 46. Duster - Familiar Fields not even into them like that but their album snapped and this was the best song 45. SZA - Shirt in a week I'll probably regret including Shirt over some of the album tracks but it feels like a safe choice. didn't think it was worth the two year wait when it came out but it still bops to this day! another sza song coming later on 44. LE SSERAFIM - FEARLESS one of the biggest growers this year, when it clicks it really CLICKS i'd probably have it higher but two more songs from them are being revealed soon 43. SUMMER CAKE - Not In Public cute Atlanta Bass banger, probably wouldn't like it THAT much but my bf recommended it so i'm biased hjsgdf 42. Isabella Lovestory - Única wasn't one of my faves on first listen but I'm not sure why, she kinda stomped on Rosalia for a second... 41. Kim Petras - All She Wants (feat. Paris Hilton) didn't think i'd have Kim on my list with the year that she's had but that unreleased album was nowhere near as bad as I expected. this is easily her best song since Clarity and would at the very least be outperforming Jesus Was A Rockstar right now, I could see it having a Coconuts moment on Tiktok
Sanguine Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 Spot on with the albums pretty much, although Tate is way too high um… SMILEY best song ever, I GOT IT BAD best song ever, SHIRT best song ever, Darkness Forever, Familiar Fields, Not in Public, Unica, All She Wants
dreamofyou Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 all she wants and i got it bad making their deserved appearances! caprisongs so low
smholiv Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 Nice presentation! Ended Pitchfork for real Caprisongs and Suckerpunch were very solid, I enjoyed both but I also agree that they're not as great as either artists' previous efforts. At least in Caprisongs case it was mostly because of it being a mixtape (which, it accomplished well, it WAS fun). However with Maggie I think in the future she needs to tighten her focus a bit. Some of the songs were bangers, but the appeal of Paranoia was that it was quick and straight to the point. Most of the other albums were pretty decent and enjoyable listens except for Demi who I still think cannot pull off almost any sound she tries, let alone the rock edge of that one not sure what it is, but something just refuses to click. Songswise I see lots of HITS! The K-Pop choices are all really fun songs that grew on me a lot. Not in Public though is easily a clear favourite, it's so stylish and cool. I love finding new K-Pop soloists. That was a rec for me too and I'm glad about it!! Also shout out to Soccer Mommy - album was a slow burner but once the individual songs click I get a lot out of them. Addison had a perfect pop song, would not expect anything less of her... and Isabella was one of my favourite new discoveries/artists of the year. Her album was sooo good So excited for future updates!
Polgg48 Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 becky G Isabella Lovestory is inevitable the name to be the forced of 2020's decade so talent
potent Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 Two Ribbons and Holy **** Substance is rated too low imo but at least Eat Me is right I didn't realize Maggie released something She Knows It was a cute bop though I missed checking out Soccer Mommy this year but I'll have to get to it after seeing some year end lists. Shirt is great but yeah the album still has to settle more for me.
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 11, 2022 ATRL Moderator Posted December 11, 2022 Stan Leah Kate and her amazing hops! Twigs deserved above most of these tbh! Like, maybe I’m a hater but I was kinda not into the Lolo girl but I’m happy she tried. Smiley has a perfect chorus but it also has perfect verses. Great song through and through!

ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 11, 2022 ATRL Moderator Posted December 11, 2022 Darkness Forever + Shirt nothing amazing in the first album update so good riddance! Demi did not even deserve to chart with that abomination tho!
TRF. Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 Isabella Lovestory and Addison Rae in the songs list we truly were robbed of a music career from this queen Also Caprisongs and Clearing I get what you mean about Caprisongs but I think the formatting kinda works? Like for what it is I think it's great way to push her sound to more accessible territory while retaining what makes her music so special.
MP2K Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 Aside from Shirt I've been meaning to check out most of these but unfortunately missed out.
TheWayWeWere Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 yeah, I'm All Ears was such an amazing record, so new record feels...disappointing, but it's still had some cute bops I loved HF, but it aged badly for me tbh Shirt is amazing, but I think I anticipated it too much still prefer most of the other tracks from SOS over it
Remmy Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 Demi yesss She snapped idc idc, and it's probably my favorite album from her now. TMYLM was holding on strong to that #1 spot 1-2 weeks after release but I think HF pushed her off. || I Got It Bad is actually good! So far it's the only song I've heard from her that genuinely sounds nice. How it never got an official release is beyond me. "we were robbed of her music career, best Tiktok girl (followed by Leah Kate)" Be serious. All She Wants is pretty cute yeah. Ready to see what else is coming I guess
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 It's Almost Dry, Cheat Codes & Caprisongs are one of the best albums this year iktr ESQUEMAS & HOLY **** are also cute POP is truly is biggest plot twist of year like, the drags when the snippet was released were ruthless but people ended up liking it Shirt, Smiley & Fearless are such bops like woah but Antifragile is better TT compare to Fearless ofc
luckystrike Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 some cute albums, Demi, Tate, Lolo, Maggie, Twigs and Becky I got it bad BEST SONG EVER, Smiley, Shirt, FEARLESS and Unica all bops
Kinich Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Two RIbbons was definitely forgettable, I even thought that was released last year! I don't really think Tate is an albums artist like I could enjoy a song or two but not a whole LP. Holy **** was nice but I never really got to listen to it that much Well both twigs and maggie projects this year were disappointing for me but the former has a couple of bops on it Still havent bothered with that lolo album, maybe one of these days! Well on a positive note! I really like all the songs in the song list bar kim! And I agree that Fearless is one of the biggest grower in terms of kpop songs this year!
Polgg48 Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 50. Soccer Mommy - Darkness Forever - haunting, while her album is good it's middle of the road, critic and casuals are not sure whether to like it or not. for me, it's ok. 46. Duster - Familiar Fields - that album is so hard to tell what tracks are, very great one-long song. 43. SUMMER CAKE - Not In Public - never heard this, ok nice 41. Kim Petras - All She Wants (feat. Paris Hilton) - iconic
ARTPØP Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 I Got It Bad truly is that unreleased BOP that the gays deserve!
