original_lifeline Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 Welcome to my dump, I guess. No long-ass lists, just the best music of this year Albums of the Year: 10 HYD — Clearing Each year provides it's last great album somewhere in November. Last year it was Mercurial World, and now it is HYD's turn to blast in my spotify til the moment I'm gonna get bored of this record. Top tracks: Trust, So Clear, Oil + Honey, Only Living For You Last.fm scrobbles: 142 Vinyl: no 9 Taylor Swift — Midnights I'm not really a fan of Taylor and my fav album of her is Reputation, so maybe that was the whole point Midnights entered this end-list. It's a nice record, though I'm not **loving-loving** it. It's cool. And that's it. Top tracks: Lavender Haze, Anti-Hero Last.fm scrobbles: 182 Vinyl: no 8 Beyoncé — Renaissance I loved Lemonade back in 2016 and was quite excited for her next actual album (ignoring everything she put out during 2017-2021). And it was worth the wait. What a gorgeous dance album from start to finish. WIsh I had it on color vinyl. Maybe later? Top tracks: COZY, ALIEN SUPERSTAR Last.fm scrobbles: 337 Vinyl: no 7 iamamiwhoami — Be Here Soon I'm the biggest iamamiwhoami fan in here and I kinda suspect myself being her #1 listener in 2020 with 27k minutes streamed, but this album is surely the weakest out of all. However it contains some gems, listed below. Top tracks: canyon, zeven, changes, flying and falling Last.fm scrobbles: 772 Vinyl: ordered 6 Maggie Rogers — Surrender Another letdown, but still a good and listenable album. Wish Maggie kept her atmospheric touch, which had me on chokehold for years since Heard it in a Past Life was out. Top tracks: Overdrive, Want Want, Shatter, Honey Last.fm scrobbles: 902 Vinyl: yes 5 MØ — Motordrome If someone told me this was going to end on #5 spot in my list after my first listen in January, I would laugh. The more time passed, the more I was surprised by how much I replay this album. And it clicked with me - I listened to it the whole damn year! I remember posting something bitter on the release date here in the album thread... But here we are. Deluxe sucks, tho Top tracks: New Moon, Live to Survive, Brad Pitt, Wheelspin, Hip Bones Last.fm scrobbles: 668 Vinyl: yes 4 Charli XCX — Crash I have nothing special to say. It may be the best Charli's album, it may not. But it is good. Top tracks: New Shapes, Good Ones, Move Me, Used to Know Me Last.fm scrobbles: 855 Vinyl: yes 3 Tove lo — Dirt Femme Her best album No One Dies From Love is my #1 in Spotify Wrapped 2022. Top tracks: 2 Die 4, Grapefruit, Attention Wh0re, Pineapple Slice Last.fm scrobbles: 1150 Vinyl: pre-ordered 2 Hatchie — Giving the World Away The most awaited album of the year, so good & so fresh. Hatchie may have found her sound and I'm so excited to see what's next. Top tracks: This Enchanted, Quicksand, The Rhythm, Sunday Song Last.fm scrobbles: 2000 Vinyl: yes 1 Ethel Cain — Preacher's Daughter MOTHER!!!!!! I'm kinda tired of writing, but this album is so emotionally connected to me, especially the Tracks 3 & 12. They helped me to heal after a painful breakup and everytime I listen to them I feel blessed and thankful for the music I've once found. It was some of fellow ATRLers to post her on the premiere day here. So thank you for that. Ethel is my fav artist of the year Top tracks: American Teenager, House in Nebraska, Family Tree (+Intro), Sunbleached Flies, Strangers Last.fm scrobbles: 1340 Vinyl: no physical release so far _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Fight me in the replies @sam.teas @Reverse Warholian

Remmy Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 Midnights, RENAISSANCE, Surrender, Crash, Dirt Femme & Giving the World Away ahhh Hatchie having the most plays of the year Only album I've heard from this top 10 that I didn't love is Motordrome, New Moon really cared that one. ~ Lavender Haze, COZY, ALIEN SUPERSTAR, Want Want, Shatter, Honey, New Moon, New Shapes, Good Ones, Used to Know Me, 2 Die 4, Grapefruit, Attention Wh*re, This Enchanted, Quicksand, The Rhythm, Sunday Song getting love as they should!!!
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 Ugh what a perfect top 3 i fear The way both Beyonce and Maggie released their album at the same time were such a blessing for me like, truly back to back bops Crash is a good "sellout" album imo but Clearing & Midnights kinda dissapoint me ngl
