it's because they changed the spotify radio algorithm. whole before they still somewhat suggested songs based on your listening, now it's become fully whatever is being pushed by labels

It’s already been confirmed as an algorithm change/payola. It’s not a natural jump.

A lot of songs got huge gains/huge falls last two days. Spotify is recommending random songs after what you’re playing instead of curated to your taste and Sabrina, RAYE and SZA are benifiting

I understand Sabrina's increase being weird but how is SZA's increase "weird" when SOS has been the most consumed album for 5 weeks

 

And the Kill Bill increase was a day after the video premiere which makes sense after all (not to mention that the Kill Bill video has multiple songs from SOS included)

 

RAYE's increases aren't weird neither. The song has been increasing for weeks and it's just getting bigger.

RAYE's increases aren't weird neither. The song has been increasing for weeks and it's just getting bigger.

SOS increased almost 20% from Tuesday to Thursday. That is absoutely insane.

And of course the Kill Bill video helped, but its not all from that.

There are multiple other artists with massive jumps the last 2 days. When those things never happen in the middle of the week

But also, yeah the demand still has to be there. I dont think the change is some massive shift or anything. We just got a few weird days now and next week will be normal updates from there again

The good thing about this Spotify algorithm change is that now even if Spotify goes back to the old system, Nonsense has been exposed to a lot more new listeners than before and that exposure might just help it retain a large number of those listeners.

 

I would equate this algorithm change's impact to the song being put in the top 5 of Today's Top Hits.

for snooze, maybe the algorithm did help but it’s like #5 on apple music usa and #9 global. plus there’s a sped up version on tiktok right now w like 65k videos

Agreed. Hopefully it lasts at least the whole week so it can climb a bunch of playlists.
