K$Ellie Posted December 10, 2022 Posted December 10, 2022 sky... that forgotten FAD, song was cute tho! Young Luv is an interesting choice when RUN2U is right there... Antifragile is WAY too low, especially when Alice and Hyra are above it but I'll take it ig Generation would be around the same spot for me, it just missed my top 50 but it's a fun bop, the ep as a whole works well! Constant Repeat, All Up In Your Mind, Twin Flame, So Clear and Hell Is Here are great choices Wet Let, Florence and Kim songs suck!
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 11, 2022 ATRL Moderator Posted December 11, 2022 oof All Up in Your Mind is my least fave from Renaissance Heaven is Here I also made the mistake to listen to those Imagine Dragons albums...a nightmare. Alexandra Stan's album was also not very good. Familia also trash of course!
TRF. Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 I get what you mean about the Alice album :/ some really great tracks but I felt like it could go a little harder than it did. Constant Repeat, All Up in Your Mind, Twin Flame, Magician, Heaven Is Here Don't Forget ironically being forgotten...
Remmy Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 Recap~ Daddy's Home still top 5 okay that has some cute songs! Juno +3 ahhh yup Love Remi. Now Mag Bay dropping... you don't deserve them & you are unwell. Praying for you! Bunny Is a Rider big grower on both of us yuppp. @Follow the Leader: thankfully I get it! Worst of 2022~ Unfortunately agree with Imagine Dragons and especially Panic! It's so sad to see how far they've fallen. HARD was definitely quite weak. You Can't Kill Me 0 serves, not that I ever cared much for 070 but her debut had some good tracks. HMs~ Michael Dance for Love mmm, yup you spilled @ it being the best song on SIH for sure. Main list~ Almost let out a laugh when Throat Goat popped up, well anyway!! Constant Repeat is nice, lowkey same for AUIYM even though it's stuck in my Ren bottom 3. Air Guitar They started that album off so well yup yup Nervous for the rest
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 The lashings on Worst of 2022 list Stray Kids & Camila deserves tbh but i still have spots for my good sisters ITZY since Sneakers & Cheakmate era was fun, at least for me Don't Forget, Young Luv, ANTIFRAGILE, All Up In Your Mind & Constant Repeat acclaim Million Dollar Baby was fun but isn't the best song of the album imo like, who's the A&R?
TrueBlood Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 Let's Eat Grandma - Levitation Rupaul - Blame It On The Edit Zella Day - Dance for Love These are all BOPS! 72. Ava Max - Million Dollar Baby 66. Metric - False Dichotomy 65. Weyes Blood - Twin Flame 62. Kim Petras - Throat Goat 61. Doja Cat - Celebrity Skin 59. Florence + The Machine - Heaven is Here 58. Uffie - Anna Jetson 51. Charli XCX - Constant Repeat Amazing bunch of tracks here! The Metric album is very good, but I think I prefer their 2018 output, Art of Doubt. It's actually my favourite Metric album ever, probably paired with the iconic Fantasies.
Sanguine Posted December 11, 2022 Author Posted December 11, 2022 Favorite Songs of 2022 One per artist 50-26 See Also's for other 10/10 tracks 50. Hope Tala - Leave It on the Dancefloor Just a fun little pop bop great replay value for me! 49. FLO - Immature See Also: All of their songs besides the acoustic one This was a tough choice because all of their songs are amazing, how do they do it? So you can replace this in your mind with any of the others if you would like. But I decided to go with Immature because these ******* is Full Moon's sons 48. Skullcrusher - Whatever Fits Together Her ending Grouper like this oh wow!!!! The album was cool too, but THIS SONG IS SO ******* GOOD. I haven't been in an Indie Folk mood lately but there's something very itch-scratching and special here 47. Lee Myrrh - Funny See Also: Cry Over You Cry Over You is lowkii my fave but I'm going with the crowd pleaser for promo, really nice Bedroom Pop album with some jazzy undertones on a few tracks 46. SZA - Shirt See Also: I Hate U, F2F, Special Debated this choice a bit and prefer I Hate U maybe but went with this because why not it's my most played. I really wish there were more Alt-R&B songs on the album because a lot of the first half was kind of a slog with a few tracks that sounded like Justin Bieber or even Bella Poarch rejects I did enjoy it about as much as I could with those comparisons in mind though, also I'm an F2F apologist because I love Pop Punk and Special is already underrated, so cute 45. Mabel - Shy See Also: Animal The way this and Break My Soul are the same song :cri: and I don't think this one even samples Show Me Love?? Anyways Mabel gave me the generic bops I needed this year, bless her 44. Caroline Polachek - Sunset See Also: EVERYTHING BECAUSE DESIRE WILL BE 2023 AOTY!!!! All I have to say was covered in my Bunny description on the first page, btw Bunny > this and Island > Billions but all four are 10/10 43. Ravyn Lenae - Xtasy See Also: 3D Amazing album, I'm in the minority who thinks the back half is better - this is my fave! Wasn't expecting a House bop from her omg 42. Willow - Hover Like a Goddess See Also: BATSHIT! Biggest musical glo-up of the year might go to Willow! After releasing two of the best songs of the 2010's with Whip My Hair and Wait a Minute, she kinda lost direction and was all over the place (although her Folk album was cute). Last year's project was absolutely carried by Transparent Soul and her singing was kinda unlistenable on some parts but that improved HUGELY here, and the songwriting feels refined as well 41. Sadie - 4am A friend of mine sent me this over the Summer saying it had Charli vibes, and he was right because this is a SHAMELESS ripoff of Tears. But if you're gonna be unoriginal, it's best to rip off a 10/10 song so she's getting her dues (plus I played it over a hundred times lmao) 40. Kelela - Washed Away Gorgeous I need more time with the other two although On The Run has been growing on me. Don't think she's gonna come close to TMA honestly but we do have an 11/10 gem in this 39. c0ncernn - I Hate When BOYS Lie Hot take probably my favorite Dariacore, or maybe it's Two idk. But leroy really came back gayer than ever on this album (positive) and IHWBL is the instant hitting banger for me 38. That Kid - Naked See Also: Thelma and Louis, DRY2WET If you would look back at what I've been preaching and saying... literally one of the only Hyperpop artists who's still releasing great music. And we all know Ayesha ghost-produced it they outsold all of Nas and Kendrick's verses on Thelma and Louis btw 37. Black Midi - Welcome to Hell See Also: Hellfire For me, Black Midi was one of those "first album cool, second album a slump, third album the best yet" groups. I normally don't listen to men but something is very captivating about the pirate-like vocals, camp 36. Leah Kate - 10 Things I Hate About You See Also: Alive and Unwell Absolute BANGER, she took Miley's best song and made it even better. Can we stop pretending all Pop Punk sucks already? But what do I know I liked Tramp Stamps too... Also, idc if she's thirty, SZA's lyrics are just as Immature.mp3 35. Julia Jacklin - I Was Neon When Pre-Pleasure came out, my view was that it was everything wrong with modern Indie Rock. I still kinda stand by that statement even though I enjoy it now, because it's basically just Lucy Dacus redux and this sad girl Singer/Songwriter stuff with Mad-Libbed lyrics is getting tiredddd. But I Was Neon is undeniably groovy, and I adore it now in all its simplicity 34. Isabella Lovestory - Sexo Amor Dinero See Also: Fashion Freak Crazy good song, the genre blending here is powerful and she's going to do amazing things in the 2020's 33. Raffaella - Blonde The Pop Rock/Pop Punk revival hasn't been the renaissance for music that I (and nobody else) was expecting and hoping for, because some of these TikTok girl vocal styles are atrocious and their songwriting ability is extremely limited, but this is one of the only times I've seen it done 100% successfully 32. Youha - Flower Rain See Also: Satellite Again, see my description of Abittipsy on page one, but Youha is quickly becoming one of my favorite K-Pop artists. Flower Rain is such a beautiful and anthemic Synthpop song 31. Kilo Kish - Bloody Future I was into Kilo when Redux dropped (Bite Me best song ever) but ignored her run of singles for American Gurl up until around when the album dropped. I should've checked this one out sooner because it's soooo good wtf. Very early tens electro-Alt-R&B with an old Tinashe vibe to it, and pre-Joyride Tinashe >>>> 30. Snow Strippers - Know My Name See Also: My Own Mistakes, Throw Myself, We Both Suffocate As a Crystal Castles stan I have to support their wannabes as much as I can since they're obviously never getting back together. This isn't as CC'd as anything on April Mixtape 2 which is the superior album they dropped this year, but probably the highest high from them. Good mix of early 2010's Electropop with some Witch House in there 29. Jockstrap - Neon See Also: Jennifer B, Greatest Hits, Glasgow Pretty unique and complex album, I've heard people say that's only because she's such a bad songwriter which is fair ig but I loved it! The dancey songs are the best, but the Folky ones are underrated. This one is like a slightly poppier track from Stereolab's Noise Rock era, and hot take [98] I love the album cover 28. Alex G - Mission See Also: Blessing, Runner I've really gotta do an Alex G discog revisit, because this album ate down and I don't remember loving many of the others, though I know he was more lo-fi before. I expected one of the rockier songs to take this spot but the vocals and melody here stood out to me. Again, one of the few Indie Folk and male songs that really hit the spot in 2022, idk what it is about him that stands head and shoulders above similar artists but yeah 27. Björk - Fossora See Also: Atopos When this came out I honestly thought it was a contender for her best song, and while I don't agree with that sentiment anymore (Pluto/Ancestors/Pagan Poetry the trinity!), it's still pretty high up there. Wish this album leaned more into the Gabber elements because those songs went OFF. Version with the screaming man as well >> 26. Hazel English - Blue Light See Also: When You're Around, Nine Stories One of the prettiest and coziest songs I've heard in 2022, perfect blend of Indie Pop and Dream Pop with a very... winding down on Sunday night vibe?

Honestly, it's a similar case to aespa where these new groups have one semi disappointing moment and everyone forgets they ever conquered the genre. Young Luv (honestly the whole EP) is a good example of that because it really was one of the best K-Pop releases for the first third of the year. Glad they're on this list! Anti-Fragile basically HAS to be in the conversation if we're talking excellence in K-Pop this year. Isabella queen... But out of the K-Pop this update my biggest accolade HAS to go to Generation. The NewJeans-ification is the best thing we could ask for and I can't wait to hear more from this project. That song is the purest reason of why I love K-Pop in the first place. Very few pop songs manage to capture the sheer feeling of joy as that does. Lastly, All Up In Your Mind is a brilliant pick. I also was not expecting a song like that from her but I truly think every mpg needs to meet up with AG Cook at least once... Twin Flame, Celebrity Skin (!! Lexie Liu's MAGICIAN is SO 2010s electropop, and if you were to replicate that sound and make it modern, MAGICIAN does a good job. But I feel like despite me liking the song, 2010s electropop is so dated and grating to me that I can't fully embrace the song either if that makes sense haha. 2010s electropop did NOT age well and a modern take is just slightly better. TheWayWeWere Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 Shirt > I Hate U, but both are not really strong for her standards Mabel Sunset is freaking amazing modern La Isla Bonita! Willow served some goodness with her latest album! the way she becoming better with each project
luckystrike Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 Mabel queen of pop That Kid icon of pop black midi nightmare of music Isabella queen of neoperreo
kiiwii Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 constant repeat probably my favorite from the album. bloody future + blue light it def is pretty. hoping to see the ep chart on your list
smholiv Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Shirt is truly incredible and definitely a strong choice for the album. It feels a lot like the centrepiece of everything. ADORE the Skullcrusher song pick (and album). Indie Folk is a genre I'm usually pretty into but definitely need to be in the right mindset for. I've found that lately, especially with winter, that album's haunting sound has hit in ways it didn't before. Excellent Ravyn pick as well, one of my favourites. I still prefer the first half but as a whole the album sets up this incredible mood and slinks between different styles so effortlessly you barely notice. hover like a GODDESS!!!! Willow absolute queen... I love how focused this album was compared to last year. Those random atmospheric parts in this song >>> 4am, 10 Things, Sexo Amor, Blonde, Bloody Future, Flower Rain, Blue Light, Mission... etc etc like.. obviously I love almost all fo this update :cannot: I could go on and on
theblackestday Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 All these hits ma'am Essay incoming: Immature definite FLO pick for me wow they embodied that 2000s R&B but fresh sound there I've not heard from Grouper since Whatever Fits Together came out... coincidence? Xtasy was always great but the remix elevated it for me so much wow. The added adlibs are Willow truly came through. Hover Like a Goddess is a perfect pick. Fully agree with your writeup, flame twin Washed Away sotd + Raven aotd Fellow Dariacore stan omg 2 and 3 are the best it's true Ms. Jackling truly channeled Mitski in I Was Neon better than Laurel Hell could Sexo Amor Dinero is so goooooooooood wow Isabella mothered. Top 1 indeed Snow Strippers are a good CC ripoff band but it became so jarring to me after awhile I couldn't do it anymore Jockstrap's album definitely peaked with the opener spill You DO need to revisit Alex albums, GSTA is greattt but not in my top 3 from him Fossora yasss Blue Light yasss. All songs called Blue Light are excellent by default (Mitski, Kelela, Jorja in plural, etc.)
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Immature, Shirt, Xtasy, Bloody Future & Fossora acclaim like woah Truly one of the best songs this year The way Mabel wasted Shy like it's not one of the best song on the album and yet she chose the safest choice for the album. If she wants be a pop diva then choose the f*******t songs as the singles then
Kinich Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Yes I prefer Immature too over Cardboard Box tho both songs are 10/10 Comparing SZA to Bella Roach Poarch now? That's not very nice of you! Mabel was the biggest surprise here coz never have I imagined that I would actually enjoy a song by her :cri: I still haven't listened to any of the Caroline sings (and I refuse to! maybe I'll change my mind next year!} At least you put Kelegend above her Xtasy is cute but I do love Venom and Wish more, I should listen to that willow more since it was definitely a step up from her previous album. Isabella gave lsrfm their biggest hit so we should all thanks her for that, her own work is just as good as well. Hmmm Flower Rain, I think I like Numb and Last Dance more but yes Youha promo! Great picks for Kilo, Snowstrippers and Jockstrap! Bjork also giving us a good album this year! I'll revisit that Hazel English EP someday since I loved Combat x
BlackoutZone Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 FINALLY some quality list like lord so many great picks Worst Of was mostly justified, but Joji was a bit of my guilty pleasure and I shall ignore royksopp / rosin lashings x Youha consistency so so so good, like as you've said she is becoming one of my fave underdogs. Just like SUMMER CAKE. Also so true about tripleS already being NewJeans copies, but like wrdgaf, serve me more music
Into The Void Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 46. SZA - Shirt 44. Caroline Polachek - Sunset - ive been dissapointed since billions 36. Leah Kate - 10 Things I Hate About You - i hate myself for lowkey liking this 43. Ravyn Lenae - i streamed her for the first time this weekend 42. Willow - Hover Like a Goddess - i still need to listen to coping mechanism
K$Ellie Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 correct choices for bjork, she chose the best songs as singles overall cute choice for Snow Strippers but I prefer Throw Myself and My Own Mistakes looooveee the Isabella, Youha, That Kid, Leah Kate, Youha, Ravyn, SZA and Caroline songs Funny is a good choice but Rollercoaster is better!
