Not sure how the process of certifying an album works, but can't Midnights then be corrected to 3x Platinum after it achieves that status? Will it just take longer if they didn't wait the week?

You have to buy the certification. Which means they will probably not certify it 3x platinum until it reaches like, 5x platinum in a few months.

It was already 2x Platinum by its third week, but they only certified it now. It'll be eligible for 3x Platinum in 1-2 weeks.

that was my first thought when I saw the title, but I think this is because the year-end recap and they're revealing the biggest songs and albums of the year...

there's no such a thing as a WW diamond album. It needs to reach 10m in the US alone to be certified Diamond

I’m not talking about a plaque I’m saying it will sell 10 million worldwide before June  who cares about a shiny plaque it’s the achievement that matters

And yet labels only update their artist certification once every few months or years. They're not going to buy the 3x cert when they just bought the 2x cert. They will want until its 5 or 6 times plat.

But there's no such a thing as a ww diamond. Selling 10m WW is selling 10m WW. She's not going diamond.
