Walmart CEO warns company will close stores if theft doesn't slow down

Not them raising prices to unaffordable levels and then wondering why theft is on the rise. :rip: I hope they go out of business.

273 million is approximately the same as Janet Jackson's net worth... Is she also hoarding?

Y'all going hard and the guy isn't even a 1/3 Billionaire apparently

Just because I stan her music doesn't mean I don't think she's also hoarding money :cm:

Honest people hard working people need Walmart stores in their areas whether you guys want to believe it or not.

The price difference in groceries alone would mean people would lose at least $200 a month if they purchased in a regular chain grocery store, like in my area Publix.

Ok but Publix is the GOAT, they might be a little pricey but everything there is quality. I moved to TX and got stuck with Kroger, it's disgusting.

What I would give to have Publix here :weeps:

The world's largest retailer likely loses about 1% of its US revenue — or roughly $3 billion every year —

BISH. If 1% of your revenue is 3 billion than yall are like next level successful and I am sure that 1% isn't doing THAT big a damage to yalls pockets. Think of it as giving back to the community / charity work :gaycat4:

I'm not gonna lie. As a little kid I would regularly steal a chocolate bar from wal mart. My mom was one of those health nuts throughout my entire childhood and I was DEPRIVED and DESPERATE and I would casually snatch one every time we went until my mom caught me. I'm sure the stealing going on is just of things like that. It's not THAT serious. Is it wrong? duh but like come on...

Try to get in the habit of not twisting people's words around to make it sound worse. That's very weird and very childish behavior. I didn't say those words at all you said them. Those are your thoughts sis.

The bogos are great for when you are broke.

Just so you are aware. It averages out to the same price as Walmart and people aren't forced to take the second item.

It isn't a great deal.

How about lowering the prices instead so people can actually afford stuff and don't feel the need to steal to get what they need? :coffee2:

Yes the quality is better. I shop at Publix now because I can afford it.  I also hate lines, waiting and large crowds. So that too affects why I'd rather walk in to a Publix. But there are people who just can't afford Publix. The people here saying that basic things like milk and eggs are the same price in both places are just wrong.  Why lie about those things?

And?

As a former employee, your company is:

1. Anti-Union

2. Trains Their Managers To Be Assholes To All Employees

3. Treats Employees Like Crap With Low Wages AND Berates Them For Every Little Mistake

4. Forces Their Employees To Provide Customer Service With "Code Sunshine" announcements over the intercom

5. Doesn't show their employees the store in all honesty

And on top of that everything else mentioned in the thread.

So yeah, you can shove it with your threats.

Bluffing.

They absolutely aren’t bluffing. They have closed several stores in the past because theft was eating into profits too much.

Girl these corporations steal more from their employees than customers steal from their stores. **** them. Shoplifting from Walmart is not unethical. :rip:

Stores like Walmart have theft built into their operating budgets anyway, it’s called shrinkage.

Are you going to actually comprehend an argument or just regurgitate nonsense?

Are you? I'm not siding with Walmart or it's CEO. I pointed that lowe middle class families and those in poverty need Walmart stores and prices. That is all.

Beyond that I think Walmart is trash.

Think it’s because they’ve hit a wall in terms of growth and want to get investors off their backs. So they’re using a bogus “thefts!” narrative to play it off

Retail is generally a low margin business (i.e. revenue - cost), but it’s not like they’re unprofitable.

Reminds me of that time I rang up $300 Bose Speakers as 2 pounds of seedless red grapes in self-checkout.

"Broke" being an insult to you  :deadbanana2:

Poor people stealing items being unacceptable but the rich stealing from their labor every day being completely okay :deadbanana2:

Baby these conversations are probably above you

You sure are twisting everyone elses' words in here to prove the opposite of this.

You "pointed that out" by simultaneously blaming closures on theft from the same group of people in poverty. If you truly cared for the poor like you pretend to, you'd realize the problem lies with mega wealthy CEOs, not theft that takes off a whopping 1% of revenue.

They have the means to support their stores. Choosing to shut them down due to theft is the equivalent of a privileged kid getting mad and taking all of his toys home.

Let's increase that 1% to 2%. We can do it! :1stplace:
