charmed23 Posted August 29, 2023 Posted August 29, 2023 Question, even though she is credited, why does Stargirl Interlude never show up in her Spotify most popular songs? While Snow on the Beach and Don't Call Me Angel have popped up?

For some reason people are now just realizing how amazing her discog is and the impact that she has had in music. It kind of increased her status from an alternative icon to a legend of her generation
Mornings Posted August 29, 2023 Posted August 29, 2023 This is what happens when you stay true to yourself. You will be misunderstood by the losers who are desperate to try and make you fit into something they’ve already seen before. But once you have enough material to binge you get a big picture of who the artist is. And there’s a whole world for new listeners to discover. It’s really beautiful. I can compare this only to one other public figure, a social media star Trisha Paytas. And if Azealia had not been stingy with her songs and just kept releasing droplets I’m sure she would at least have critical success but we don’t have a full spectrum of her mind by listening to her artwork so we just have her wild insulting rants to see and remember her by. anyway I digress. It’s awesome and should be applauded more often that she can pull this level of interest and success without the marketing and promo budget, or weird east egg cult conspiracies.

NOW Posted August 29, 2023 Posted August 29, 2023 (edited) Kinda mindboggling going back to one of her earlier interviews and seeing where she is today and how the seeds she planted back then have blossomed: https://www.complex.com/music/a/complex/lana-del-rey-2012-cover-story Quote Her interest in people's mental health was no coincidence. “I think it was because the way my head was when I was younger,” she explains. “I was dealing with a lot of emotional turmoil. So I understood what it's like to be at war with yourself.” Quote “Why would it be a different thing?” she asks, sounding genuinely confused. “I never changed my sound. I never stopped writing about what was actually going on in my life. There’s nothing to hide.” That sample would've been cool to hear: Quote “Lolita” is another cut that finds Lana under love’s spell, despite her friends’ worries about the relationship. “I don’t care what they say about me,” she sings defiantly. “You make me happy.” If all goes as planned, a snatch of dialogue from the 1976 film Taxi Driver will start the track off (the Martin Scorsese classic was playing on the studio’s massive flat-screen while they recorded it). Specifically, Lana wants to include the part where Robert De Niro’s Travis Bickle urges Iris, the 12-year-old prostitute played by Jodie Foster, to stop selling herself on the street. Quote “She’s the middle ground between Adele and Lady Gaga,” Mawson proclaims, but both those artists sell loads of records and pack out venues across the globe, which doesn’t exactly fall in line with Lana’s plans. “That’s his ambition,” says Lana, who would be OK with a gold album—but swears she could care less about platinum status. As for extensive touring, don’t count on it. “My touring agents already know,” she says with a laugh. “I’m tired like that.” Edited August 29, 2023 by NOW 2
