The way that one week of Summertime Sadness video's views eclipses Candy Necklace's total views and that one apparently got zero budget when it was shot.

I mean, look... This time around they made some good choices, but she, her management and her label make some terrible choices right after that kill the momentum.

CN shouldn't have been on the album, let alone a song with an expensive video that just doesn't encourage her fans and casual listeners to sit through the entire thing.

And it's fairly obvious what her audience enjoys the most: Peppers, Let The Light In, Paris, Texas and A&W. A good visual for one of these songs would have been a better option.

Just watch, they will **** up the tour next.

Honestly I think she gets a kick out of all the haphazard planning. She hates structure but she still wants to win, just not all the time or something :gaycat6:

LOOOOOVE that CN flopped hard. hopefully now she realizes some of her artistic choices make zero sense.

If they were smart they would release a shorter cut, that has more replay value, that way the song would be pulling streams from the visualizer, the full video, and the shortened version

This. When she posted in her stories the 'I want you to see it for real' I thought it was the new release of a shortened version, but it was just the original long version released ages ago :dies:

Also, some stuff is not even up to fans, the YouTube algorithm was just going to blacklist that short film since the start. Artists have it hard with the YouTube algorithm for their music videos, and it was going to be way harder for Lana since she had more than a year without an official video

And if they really wanted a hit, put out some catchy remixes a la Cedric Gervais or the SYTH remixes, + she would’ve actually advertised it the week it was released, and her IG would be public and actually identify “Lana Del Rey” in the username :ace:

I don't think they really wanted a hit. I'm guessing it was more about Lana wanting Candy Necklace to make it big, or at least not being overshadowed by several album tracks from the same album. SYTH was just the nail in the coffin for Candy Necklace :dies:

Okay I think I finally got the ranking right:

The fact that Taco Truck wasn’t a full song is literally a crime against humanity

Don't get the Candy Necklace slander. it's gorgeous and intimate, and sounds different for her.

one of my faves and the one I go back to the most tbh.

Now that some time has passed, personally, in terms of how much I want to actually listen to each album:

UV > NFR > HM > BTD/P > DYK > COTCC > LFL > BB

I’d put DYK higher but I just don’t find myself returning to it that often tbh though I do like it

The album is at 90,5k units in the UK, will be Gold in September

I don't know what she was expecting from Candy Necklace. It's a nice song, I enjoy the production, but it doesn't offer anything new or exciting for her lyrically. Sounds like something she would have written post-Born To Die, or ran through AI.

The video was a boring mess if I'm being honest. Some cute glamour shots but that's it. If she wants people engaged she's gonna have to make her music videos more accessible to the audience. Music videos are dead and I'm especially not caring to watch one that has BTS footage cutting through parts of the song. It's not coming off as this big artistic statement she thinks it is.

Like....no visual for the incredible A&W was an artistic choice I'm content with, but she could have mustered up something really cute for Paris, Texas when it was smashing. I could even see an epic video for Grandfather being made. If she was expecting more than it got, she shouldn't have completely fumbled it.

Candy Necklace video was nice in theory, but the execution was just drab.

I’m going to go ahead and pretend she was being sarcastic about telling us to watch it, and that it was all part of a social experiment yep yep :swing:

Where is this sudden CN hate train coming from? It's a great song, and a beautiful video. Y'all are annoying :rip:

I think she has a thing the tracks that are recorded at the end of the album procesa, CN was a last minute addition, same with HBTB, Coachella and FIILY, I think she gets carried away by the novelty factor a lot

Another win for the coquette girlies i fear

Ok this looks way better when done on the big stage. They should incorporate the male dancers into other songs because they literally don't do anything until the very end with the closing track, and they're actually professional dancers too who've worked with Mariah and Britney.

If Lana wants her videos to get millions of views she needs to start acting like the pop star she is instead of releasing 10+ minute long sleep inducing short films
