Blue Banisters did just fine for her 2nd album of the year when a pandemic was still raging. Yes, her team completely ****** up on getting the physicals out for release week, but... Oh well. If anything, she just served as a Critical Darling and has stretched Lana's streak of 80+ Metacritic albums to 4 within 3.5 years, which is a huge feat, tbh. :allears: :allears::allears:

(still not my fav album tho)

It's so funny. Lana and her team could have done some signings or literally *one* appearance and covered that gap, but it's whatever.

Those stupid K Pop fads will always hustle for a higher spot. Lana's not that girl, lol.

Okay so I finally have an album ranking. In terms of best to worst albums (vocals, production, theme, lyrics, narrative, etc.):

1. Norman (overall job well done)

2. BTD (literally worked on over and over until perfect)

3. Paradise (very solid and tight production)

4. Tunnel (mixing issues and too many samples)

5. Chemtrails (too short)

6. Lust for Life (not a lot of passion in it)

7. Honeymoon (unclear narrative)

8. Ultraviolence (repetitive choruses)

9. Blue Banisters (YouTube to mp3)

And you told someone to ignore my opinion :bibliahh:

Why does she always pick the worst weeks to release...flashbacks to Drake surprise release blocking her too

Right?

Her team is so silly sometimes. This album only has half the variants Chemtrails had, too. :lmao:

at least they shipped some of the merch early so it counts for opening week. originally my box set said it would ship mid april, but it went out this past Monday :bird:

Didn't she say she didn't want to release the boobs out version because she wants to do something else first? Idk anymore, but 120k is amazing.

Her streaming numbers could have been a bit better though. But Overall, an amazing result :clap3:

I think BB is her weakest album as a whole but this is absolutely true like Text Book, WW, Blue Banisters and Black Bathing Suit set the ground for Ocean Blvd.

It's kinda funny how shook some of us were by her vulnerability on those Blue Balls songs only for her to drop an entire album where she's even more unfiltered :lmao:

Earthquakes being reused for A&W had me slightly shook...she really takes years to execute concepts:jonny5:

Oh yeah. Anyone who tries to come for Lana for debuting at #3 is an absolute fool. The actual stats are insane: Highest first week sales since 2014, first week sales of 120K with a Q1 release, #1 in the UK, Universally Acclaimed on MC, BNM on Pitchfork... She really won. She should be proud.

It's a full-blown repeak we're seeing here and her/her team aren't even pushing it to its fullest potential. They have an easy ALT/AC hit on this album (LTLI) that they have yet to tap on and several potential viral hits in the form of (Paris, Texas/Margaret/Peppers). 120k is fantastic and a lot of her variant vinyl is delayed to next week. Hopefully this sees NFR! levels of stability.

The only thing that would make it a perfect era would be a tour in NA and maybe Europe. She can play arenas if she wanted in places like New York, Cali, Texas, Boston, Chicago, Phoenix, London and Berlin. The rest could be big theaters and really sing songs from the last four records with very little pre NFR material. That would be amazing

I literally NEED her to come to NYC. Ugh. I'm not a fan of festivals AT ALL.

The Grants has been in my head all day. I'm even warming up to the horrible intro.

The meltdowns in here. :dies: Ya’ll, 120k is INSANE. Like yes, it’s annoying because this would be a #1 if that racist thumb and that horrible group or person or whatever didn’t drop, but what does a #1 really mean anyway?

Lana doesn’t give a ****, so why should we. Let’s celebrate Lana’s second biggest opening week ever. We haven’t seen her move this many numbers in 9 years. Her REPEAK IS HERE! So Excited Reaction GIF

Idk how reliable this is but someone at the pop-up shop asked her dad and he apparently confirmed there will be a tour. I bet he's going to be the opener. :gaycat4:

Music video/Tour backdrop concept: During Grandfather, they use footage of her dad fishing in the middle of a tropical storm :jonny5:

Wow 120k! Lemme buy a few more cd’s!

I've sat with this album for awhile (and I think that's super important with a project like this one!), and this is my ranking so far. I still don't know where Lana's first 2 albums rank.

1. NFR!

I know this is the obvious choice, but it truly is Lana's best album. It's one of her lengthiest projects, but it never feels too long or like it overstayed its welcome. The title track, Mariners Apartment Complex, F- It, I Love You, Love Song, and more are highlights. Also the rare pop album that starts and ends pretty strong.

2. DYNTTATUOB

Very close to NFR! It has a lot of highlights like the title track, The Grants, A&W, Candy Necklace, Fingertips, and Grandfather, although not quite as good. Maybe it has to do with the fact it's very ballad-heavy and lengthy at times.

3. COCC

This one gets way too much hate. White Dress is my favorite Lana song, the title track is one of her best, Wild at Heart, Not All Those Wander, and Dark But Just a Game are great.

4. Lust for Life

Another horribly overheated Lana album. The second half is actually really good, and Love was a great song/single. I think people hate this one because of songs like White Mustang and Woodstock, but what Lana album (or any pop album) is without its fillers?

5. Honeymoon

Music to Watch Boys To, Art Deco, 24, The Blackest Day, Religion, and Salvatore are all great. It's just not as good as L4L and COCC since Lana was still trying to hone her craft.

6. Blue Banisters

The first 3 tracks? Fantastic. Same with IFYLDWM, Arcadia, and Wildflower Wildlife. The rest? Pretty typical Lana. Nothing stands out nor is anything outright terrible.
