Grandfather… has to be one of the finest songs of her career.

The vocal melody when she actually starts singing the “Grandfather…” line is transcendent. Been stuck in my head all day :weeps:

the way she sings "of my father" is beautifullll

does anyone know why her songs are getting reuploaded on YT with "Celebrating Women" on the cover?

is she drinking again? :coffee2:

Let's hope for good streaming numbers for the new album

taco truck is such an amazing track, the VB is so unnecessary :rip:

peppers with angelina :jamming:

fishtail's trap beat is random but i like it

candy necklace should've been called young & restless

grandfather has a gorgeous melody

paris, tx has a cool piano but don't get why it gets so much love on spotify dd;

sweet is a HIGHLIGHT

THE INTERLUDE are just ******* ugly :skull: if i wanted a mass i'd go to church, trash

Finally, I've listened Did You Know... and, first thing I want to say is that, despite having read numerous complaints about the long useless interludes, I found them essential to elevate the album's quality and cohesiveness -- Not trying to be that edgy fan but I really liked them :gaycat7: I mean, a pastor is preaching, almost screaming, and Lana is laughing in the background? The production is immaculate, tho :clap3:

Regarding the album, in a first listen, it gave me Honeymoon meets Lust For Life with slight Ultraviolence vibes. Whilst the production is interesting in some tracks (gospel, soft-country, dreamy 70s, trap beats, electric guitar, organic instrumental, reverb voices, etc.), the most engaging part is the composition; the superb lyrics immerse you in Lana's bohemian visions: the flooded art-deco ruins descriptions, the biblical references, the questions for the culture, the hesitation about her own art, the seeking of ecstasy and the melancholic familiar verses :allears: Otherwise, most of the songs are not as catchy as the singles plus, she thinks she is making experimental music by unnecessarily extending titles songs 2-3 minutes :rip: That's not the point.

Highlights: The Grants / Did You Know... / A&W / Paris, Texas / Margaret / Fishtail. A special mention to the interludes because they define the album.

Score: 6,6

Nothing against you, but I never thought talking about the music on here would be similar to analboards or stan twitter. Pages and pages of people just saying silly **** like "people have no taste" "take your **** opinion and log off"

Idk I guess I'm tired of even trying to make it about the music. Some keyboard warriors and twitter stans running the conversation and coming at people who actually take the time to share their view on a big record like this.

On wiki this album is categorized as Americana. Do you guys think that this has a chance in the Americana category at the Grammys?

hmm, i just think it's playful banter, at least for me when i post stuff like that. it's not that i'm trying to attack or judge anyone for their taste, just playfully disagreeing or injecting some light shade into the thread. i think comparing atrl to stan twitter is a bit too much, we have a good balance of people analyzing the music, ranking stuff and genuine discussions with some banter thrown in the mix. whereas twitter doesn't allow for that kind of lengthy discussions because of character limits so they just resort to... that. and analboards is a mental institution i'm afraid. i think atrl would be really boring if it suddenly turned into a completely serious discussion forum with no memes/gifs/shade, but it would also be insufferable if it was completely a stan twitter like place without meaningful exchanges. :bird: just my 2 cents

Thank you Tommy Genesis for providing whatever it is that you do for an incredible banger

some amazing songs on here but she continues her streak of incredibly uneven albums after the masterpiece that is NFR!

So what drugs did they mix into PEPPERS?

I am addicted since day one, can't stop moving!

Nice to see Paris Texas being showered with love, she's that girl

Poppers and Paris, Texas slightly increasing on UK Spotify

If the album would have to be cut a bit shorter tracks that add the least to the whole experience are imo the Jon Batiste interlude, Paris, texas and either Taco Truck x VB or Peppers (leaning towards the former). They would've made for cute bonus tracks or B-sides.
