Let The God In is her best song with a feature AND second best song on the album :msmarvel:

John vocals just make it feel complete, phenomenal duo we never knew we needed :clap3:

I swear she laced Paris, Texas with crack or something because I can’t stop humming it constantly :deadbanana2:

Love how this album was meant to be intentionally imperfect.

I think we just cant compared NFR to this album. One is meticulously done with the intent to e a perfect record (still with a stain that is Best American Record, ironically) while this album is a WILD and experimental ride. NFR was safer but still great. This record takes a lot of risks and still great.

Possibly her worst album.

Go back to March, 2021, like, urgently.

LA Times review is a great read, it's so satisfying to read commentary from people who get it :clap3:

Removing the interludes and Peppers would have moved a lot of the 70's to 90's. I am pretty sure she KNEW this and yet...

This truly feels like her most personal album to date - no more made up stories and metaphors. It also has goodbye vibes that feels nostalgic and I'm hoping it's just for artistic purposes only and Lana is currently in a good mental state.

With that said, it's the album from her I least enjoyed at first listening and, unlike what I felt with Honeymoon/Blue Banisters, I don't think it'll grow on me, musically speaking.

This is my first-impression ranking and, as I like to do with every new Lana era, what of her previous era reminds me of in italics.

1. The Grants: beautiful song, one of the highlights that will always be remembered. Born to Die.

2. A&W: lyrically it's the typical Lana that we all know. Melodically it's a masterpiece - both parts are amazing, Grammy-worthy. Norman ******* Rockwell!

3. DykttatuOB: what can I add? It's a great lead single. Blue Banisters.

4. Fishtail: the discreet use of auto tune and hyper-pop vibes, I'm living. Lust for Life.

5. LTLI: I love this duet and the song is nice. Lust for Life.

6. Gpsotsomfwhdsf. Ultraviolence.

7. Peppers: I love having something to dance on. Lust for Life.

8. Taco Truck x VB: it started so strong, I can't believe she wasted this really cool song by shorten-it up and blend it with an already great song on its own like VB :jonnycat:an AWFUL decision but it's still a dope song - I think I prefer this to the original VB (which I think it's a masterpiece but exhausting to listen to). Norman ******* Rockwell!

9. Candy Necklace: it feels like one of the few melodic songs in this album that wasn't a poem-to-song. Honeymoon.

9. Paris, Texas: idk why I found so funny when she clarifies (Texas) with a whisper. Paradise.

10. Sweet. Chemtrails Over the Country Club.

11. Kintsugi. Blue Banisters.

12. Fingertips: those lyrics hit hard, I never heard a more genuine Elizabeth Grant telling her own story. But the song is UGLY, sorry. It reminds me of Change, but at least Change had some melody on it.. Fingertips it's just like classic music meets rap, it's kind of annoying and I don't see replay value for it. Honeymoon.

13. Margaret: not memorable enough. Lust for Life.

14. Both interludes: sorry but I can do without em! I could tolerate Burnt Norton and I really enjoyed The Trio, but a 3/4 minute interlude? Next, I will never listen to this again. Also wtf is this religion nonsense? Does she know her fan base?

The true surprise here is that COCC won, huh?
