I never understood why yall hated and deleted the interludes but now I do :skull: like why? It can be bad but it needs to be short lmao. No one got time to listen to that angry male voice whine for 2 hours. Lana is a mess sometimes. Like why waste vinyl's space for that. Imagine skipping thosr part while playing the album from start to finish as an LP on vinyl :skull: that would be a chore :rip: in fact, I was planning to order 2 more variants of the vinyl but now Im thinking twice. I may not buy more afterall.

It *is* too long, like it could easily be halved and still have the same impact and I'd never choose to listen to it, but when I listen to the album as a whole all the way through I don't really mind or skip them.

They are definitely patient listens, but they have tons of replay value.

I mean it’s a masterpiece but I won’t pick it up particularly just to listen to that one specicfic song. It’s an immersive experience when you revisit an entire album for sure.

So idk how I feel yet after listening twice. Most Lana albums are growers, so I'm not worried that I'll like it more by time. As I'm one of the few peeps who actually loved BB, it's definitely not as easy to get into as that one. The title track, Arcadia and Text Book are a big punch that Ocean Blvd definitely doesn't have for me. So BB stays superior for now.

I don't mind the interludes, but The Grants obvs sounds better without it - there is just no melodic transition between the intro and the song, what a shame.

So far A&W is the only standout track for me, the rest just blends together, but I guess that's gonna change with more plays.

When you play it on vinyl it's not easy to skip like on Spotify sis :skull: also people like a full LP experiencr from start to finish on vinyl.

This album has no skips - the lengthy interludes fit perfectly into the tone of the album at their points in the tracklist.

Are there songs that I wouldn't go back to listen to individually? 100% - but as an LP, completely solid. :clap3:

Kintsugi and Fingertips are good, the album has not a bad or even weak song for me, but I agree when you listen the all album from start to finish they seem a little bit longer and kill the album ryhtm. One between Let the light in or margaret would have work better between them.

The Grants intro is brilliant! What are some of you talking about?? The "main" BV gal sounds like Aretha in the 90s. :smitten:

Another wonderful album by Miss del Rey.

Paris, Texas is my absolute favourite. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that it's one of the best songs in her catalogue. :smitten:

Favourites after one listen:

  • Paris, Texas
  • Candy Necklace
  • The Grants
  • Taco Truck x VB
  • Let the Light In
  • Sweet
  • Margaret

lana stans and casual listeners of her discography seem really happy about this record from what I'm reading everywhere.

Who cares about this average thing?

It was definitely well received, that's enough... 77 78 or 79 what's the difference?.

I’m surprised at the initial reactions, on first listen I thought it was way more ‘instant’ than Blue Banisters and actually a very pleasant listen. Obviously it needs to grow on me some more, but it’s definitely top tier Lana.

The Judah Smith interlude is definitely a stinker that throws you off of the flow of the album. I don’t mind the Jon Batiste one as it’s at least melodic, but no one is here for 5 minutes of screaming. :skull: She’s such a troll for this and knew damn well what she was doing with the dozen vinyl versions where it’s unskippable.

"It's too long!" will NEVER be a valid criticism :rip: music journalism is terrible like

Btw this album is meant to be listened from start to finish every time. We need to do something about our diminishing attention span for our own sake...

Don't think most people or really anyone doesn't like the interlude in itself - it's just literally the cheapest, weirdest transition sonically speaking between interlude and song. So that kinda kills the vibe. It's literally like someone did a fade transition between tracks in Windows Movie Maker 1.0

Looks like she did around 20million first day. She's #5 on the global artist Spotify ranking behind Drake and he usually does around 35 million a day. 25 million was a biT too optimisctic from that Twitter account yesterday

Could even be less than 20 million depending on how much her catalogue did. BTD alone is pulling almost 5 million alone.

Tbh I’ve always kinda not been a huge Lana fan but after the release of A&W I started to really take a different look at her as an artist and go through her catalogue again and she really blew me away.

This album changed the way I saw the world and everything around. Very beautiful and introspective, very sad but also very powerful. Truly a one-of-a-kind album from a one-of-a-kind. Not a single contemporary artist is touching her.

Taylor should had sent some checks to the critics to encourage them to listen at least several times or  until they get it
