I know the answer is “no” but is a #1 debut possible? How is the racist hag doing this week? Do we know? Oprah Winfrey Reaction GIF

Yeah #1 is definitely out of the picture. That rat is doing +200k for his 3rd week and will barely drop next week. So #2-#5 it is.

I know A LOT of y'all on this site don't care for theneedledrop's reviews but I always anticipate them! He reacted to 4 songs from the record on stream just now and really liked/loved all of them so I think we're continuing his post NFR! Lana redemption arc :sistrens:

Which songs?

This album is really messy, even more so than LFL I think. I love almost all of the songs individually but it has yet to come together as a whole for me.

The way I’m only just know really realizing how incredibly poetic and deeply poignant Fingertips is because I had no idea what she was saying due to its lack of engaging melody.

Look at the material:

Who hung himself real high
In the National Park sky, it's a shame and I'm crying right now

To get to you, save you, if I take my life
Find your astral body, put it into my arms
Give you two seconds to cry
Take you home, I, I'll give you a blanket
Your spirit can sit and watch TV by my side

So this album is so confusing to me ngl

One part of me is like….ok this is def one of her most interesting records conceptually. This feels more like a “leap” creatively than her last two projects FOR SURE. Some super strong songwriting and the lyrics are some of her most personal/best to date but GODDD if this wasn’t a CHORE to get through like…..lord

I dont get the production choices here. It’s trying to serve “dreamy” but it’s more “dreary” than anything. Everything is so muddled and quiet. The interludes are literally useless. The pacing is weird and slow. The middle section is a bore. Her sampling “Angelina Jolie” is GENIUS because it’s such a catchy hook but the song ended up sounding awkward. In fact, a lot of this album just sounds awkward/forced. Idk. Just such a weird album tbh. Need more time

The pacing of the album and sequencing is horrible. It makes no sense to me and yet I know Lana had an intention but it isn’t received by the rest of us so it sounds clunky.

Like someone else said- it hasn’t come together as a whole for me yet. There isn’t a single song here that I don’t love (where as LFL, also very incohesive, had many duds that I still could do without to this day) but I haven’t yet had that moment where I feel every song represents one bigger whole and that I hope changes because albums that don’t feel cohesive really get lost on me.

Definitely this is in her Top 4 regardless :jonnycat:

Kintsugi - fingertips - Paris, Texas is the 1-2-3 PUNCH of the album. They really explain everything :weeps:

It's time, it's time to go
When you know, you know
That it's time to leave

Yup Kintsugi is her best song of all time I said it.

LTLI and Margot are so buttery smooth. Kuntpussy and fingertits are magnificent  lyrically but have low replay value. There I said it.
