Lana Del Rey - 'Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd'

I really do, it's between that and AW for my #1 from the album

I don't think anything else does, the album is mostly about her closest circle - family, friends, her memories with them. There is a lot of retrospection so I guess she felt like this was also something that shaped her as a person, maybe taught her to be tough, or was pulling her down for the longest. I personally don't see Lana being seen like that for years now, she is really well respected as an artist. But she definitely was really judged early on, the entire BTD era so it's probably a reflection on that.

The Tommy "collab" is also not what people think it is :dies:  but I want to listen to it a bit more before I write about it

I think when ppl write about her as putting on a persona rubs her the wrong way, see the Ann Powers article. She is respected, but the old image still haunts her a bit and her fans also play a tiny role in it.

Now I am more relieved about the "collab" with Tommy. I remember that one song "Tommy" of hers and I read a few things about her wondering "How is that ever going to work? ".

But it seems that there no real Lust For Life turd on the record at least.

Just watch: just because you called A&W wild, I am pretty sure some fans will think of a song like OTTR or Dealer :skull:

I'm assuming Tommy might be the second interlude?

Track 14 with the ambient artist and her friend was serving interlude, too, so Idk.

@BlackoutZone Do we have any longer length epics on the album?

She usually places weaker tracks in the MID section or towards the end. It would surprise if she posted a weak track so early on

This is true. Usually the first 3-4 tracks of a Lana album are my favorites. :lmao:

Off to the Races and Lust For Life are both literally tracks #2

Textbook opens BB… And Arcadia #3. Lots of surprises apparently

OTTR is top 20 in her discography. there is a reason why she still almost always performs it 10 years later even though it wasn't a single.

Fantano liked the new track, said it's a banger and better than anything on Blue Banisters

Because she needs at least one song over 70bpm to not have the audience to fall asleep and because she just can't bother to learn her new songs. The song's not even top 20 on BTD

Wow. The score should be rising on RYM as we speak then. :lmao:

MAC is still her best song to me, I'm so happy it became the visual reference for the NFR cover since the whole You're lost at sea, then I'll command your boat to me again part always gives me goosebumps.

It's interesting though, I remember all of us suspecting the song is sort of Lana's clap-back at the public misunderstanding her messages, lyrics, intentions and she denied all of that in the BBC interview. Perhaps she took some inspiration from those speculations, cause that one song with the longest title that I teased before seems to be touching that topic for real this time. Public's doubt of Lana's persona, of her artistry being genuine and not just controversial fabricated public image, and most importantly that she is a woman in charge, female artist who can also be the master behind her own craft. At least that's how I see it, but I'm anxiously waiting for Lana to speak about this song. It might as well be another MAC situation since it's again a poetic song bathed in various allegories I can't fully grasp on my own. Interestingly it has sea theme again as well :allears:

Agree. It’s ethereal, timeless, and will go down as one of the best songs released during the 21st century. It’s the culmination of everything Lana stands for, and is the crown jewel in the discography one the of the most influential artists of our time. The Next Best American Record indeed. :clap3:

Is it just me or now here om ATRL it's a bit too quiet compared to her past eras when the album was first announced or when we got the first single leading to the album release... the album thread and the single thread are now dead silent :rip: why arent you guys discussing a bit more? Or do more rankings?
