The Judah Smith interlude is half over and the instrumental is one of the most beautiful she’s ever done. So haunting and eery and the little whispers from Lana are ethereal.

I sonically totally get what they’re going for. This all feels like a movie with different scenes. I really like it honestly, it just sometimes gets a little too weird cuz I hate Judah’s beliefs. And he’s yelling too loud, it should be more muffled.

This interlude serves a thematic purpose but idk what that is yet and it’s insanely long like girl tf? I didn’t attend church this evening!

It’s about self strength and control, specially in regard of AW. It’s about being good, faithful, a “family man”, which is what she sings about throughout the record.

But the haunting sonical production gives it a twist.

Bobby Olivier's about to get wrecked by Lanita :lmao:

I've made peace w/ the reviews. This album was always going to get mixed reception. It's completely uncompromising, 100% an album for Lana diehards only. She won't be making any new fans w/ this album. I'm just happy she did exactly what she wanted to do.

Holy actual FUCC.

Candy Necklace is hands down one of the best things she’s ever done, y’all were soooo wrong.

One of her most haunting songs and the piano work is so good. The way John comes in unexpectedly just adds this spooky element. Whew. Possibly in her Top 5.

His yelling is just maniacal though. Nothing about that sounds godly, it sounds demonic. Idk I’m too high for this- I like the idea there tho

i love it. it’s perfect for her americana aesthetic. reminds me a lot of young goodman brown

Am I just high or are the two interludes supposed to depict two different styles/faces of “worship”. The first interlude sounds so eerie and the cult-like yelling of the preacher was off-putting. John’s interlude sounds like a more triumphant, uplifting form of worship, feeling “God” through the music and the vibe is far more light and positive imo.

And the gospel elements incorporated on the first few tracks ties to this perfectly with both Lana and John riffing at the end in almost a worship-like type of way

I just don’t know exactly what Candy Necklaces separating the two represents but it’s definitely intentional otherwise she would’ve spaced the interludes out a bit
