Taco truck could have been the best song in history but then the VB remix started. Oh well

the absolute excellence......

Ummm now let’s get ONE thing straight, right here, right now-

Sweet is INCREDIBLE. You’ll see in time. It is like straight out of a 1940s Disney musical. Oh my God it’s so beautiful and so simple and so cohesive to the first two tracks as well.

I pictured an old rustic cottage with a Disney Princess waltzing through it with the birds and forest animals, singing.

The imagery!!!!! Onto A&W, now that’s a classic.

Oh the outro for Candy Necklace is so haunting :duca:

Okay so after my first listen I rank the songs as

Songs I adore: Sweet, A&W, Candy Necklace, Let The Light In, Peppers

Songs that I find gorgeous: Ocean Blvd, Paris Texas, Margaret

Songs I like: Fishtail, Taco Truck x VB

Songs I didn't like at first: The Grants, Kintsugi, Grandafather

Fingertips deserves to be all by itself because that song is insane and I'll need more time before I can finally wrap my mind around it :msmarvel:

Overall I really enjoy this album, after my first listen I can't tell where it ranks on her discography for me but it belongs in the top half for sure. You can tell she really had fun making this record, it is more diverse than the last two and riskier too. I'm glad to see Lana still has it in her to experiment and serve new sounds, the last three songs are such a fun and unexpected turn I love it. :WAP:

I love the Jon Batiste interlude so much.

what on earth is the jon batiste interlude :deadbanana4:

I won't lie the interludes are awful BUT the instrumental in the pastor interlude is so gorgeous like that deserved to be its own song with Lana's vocals. Wasting such gorgeous music on a pastor rant about whatever is peak homophobia and I will never forgive her for this

Something tells me that was the critic that missed most of the album in the bathroom :fan:

I have to help my best friend finish a speech for one of her classes but then I'll go RIGHT to my nightwalk and give this a proper first listen :jonny5: I already know that I love A&W and Sweet, and The Grants and the title track are very nice!

The Judah Smith interlude is half over and the instrumental is one of the most beautiful she’s ever done. So haunting and eery and the little whispers from Lana are ethereal.

I sonically totally get what they’re going for. This all feels like a movie with different scenes. I really like it honestly, it just sometimes gets a little too weird cuz I hate Judah’s beliefs. And he’s yelling too loud, it should be more muffled.

This interlude serves a thematic purpose but idk what that is yet and it’s insanely long like girl tf? I didn’t attend church this evening!

Not Pitchfork linking to that bottom-of-the-barrel trash-ass article from Iman Sultan (partially quoted in my signature) :lmao:
