ALSO, Lana is right about Fingerips being one of her most personal song. I would even say it's her most personal and revealing song ever.

It wasn't my idea

The cocktail of things that twist neurons inside

But without them I'd die

Give me a mausoleum in Rhode Island with Dad, and my Grandpa, and Dave

Who hung himself real high

In the national park skies

I said after my first listen that not everyone was gonna "get" this album, and welp :cm:

Miss Grant is weeding out the BTD truthers one by one and she's less bothered than ever I fear

Right...

Also, the people dragging the core songs at the middle of the album really don't get it, you don't have to like them as songs, everyone is entitled to not like a song socially, but to want them cut is a pathetic opinion. Candy Necklace to Let the Light In > Cruel World to West Coast:)

struggling to take in the wordniness and structure and lack of melody...:deadbanana4: if they sat through one of Joanna's songs what's not clicking about Fingertips

"Lack of melody" when applied to modern popular music is the silliest thing people say, it really bothers me. (Neither Joanna songs nor Kintsugi/Fingertips lack melody). It's so unspecific and also just usually false.

To be fair though, I don't think Joanna has any songs as like word vomit as Fingertips... Her songs have not traditional pop like structures, but even songs like Emily, Only Skin have formal structure closer to folk music (a modified strophic form of sorts) - Fingertips is an exercise in just stream of consciousness over chords with some editing, whereas Joanna songs are usually quite meticulously planned out in advance musically and lyrically.

I can 100% understand the dislike for the pastor interlude but that piano and the use of LA Who Am I to Love You makes me want to listen every single time

Only listened to the singles, Sweet and Taco Truck. I'm not ready for the smashery on Friday :jonny5: I just know it's gonna be an experience.

I’ll never understand (though I’m not judging ) fans who will get so hyped for their fave’s new album and then delete one or two songs from the album to make it “better”. Like idk, you don’t have to like every song, but what’s the point in wanting to appreciate the artist’s vision and then cutting songs that were part of that vision. If I’m listening to a Lana album, I’m gonna keep every track on it as the artist intended. Hell, half of BB is a skip for me but I keep them there because there’s a reason for each track (well maybe not on Blue Balls, but on this album the vision seems very clear and not something I dare **** with, I fear!) :giraffe:

Finally some appreciation for Acclaimed Banisters. :jonnycat: I insist VFR is one of her best songs. :msmarvel:

If I hadn't heard those unreleased ones before I would have been shook at the carnage :jonnycat: But yes Violets For Roses is a lovely song.

Any of you chart-informed stans have a very loose guess on where this May debut in the US?

I know it’ll be close to impossible for her to compete with Morgan Wallen and idk if Karol G is still gonna be holding out strong, but is there any other album releasing this coming week that may be big competition?

Is a Top 3/2 possible?
