the "bring back rick" gays are the new "she needs to go back to the btd sound" gays like do you not see yourselves

Papa Nowels was great for the time but I don’t need him to come back.

I would actually be more interested in more work with Mike Dean considering their one song together is 10/10. But maybe that was all he was good for.

people are losing their **** over 4 star reviews :rip: so embarrassing, some people can't like something until critics validate it's good for them

She does two or three folk-influenced songs and some of y’all say they’re Taylor Swift-ified :rip: I’ve seen it all now

Posted (edited)

Not people wanting Nowels for acclaim when he hasn’t even managed to grab a 80.

I need a review to call Kintsugi one of her most beautiful songs of all time, I've had it in my head since I first heard it its insane

Opening this thread this morning and seeing all the meltdowns over reviews, only to see they were 80s and a couple of 70s. :rip:

Absolutely not :tsk: Rick's chord progressions have this special charm to them, the way it complements Lana's melodies is unmatched. His sense of structure & use of bridges knocks all the others out the park. Ha melodies deserve this level of attention and detail :nicole:

The progression and evolution through BTD->Paradise->UV->HM->LFL was palpable. Now COCC/BB/DYK all have songs that sound like they could come from either of the three albums. Erickson's chords feel way too on the nose and predictable :priceless: Antonoff abuses and reuses the same three or four chords, motifs & instrumentals.

TT and Peppers are stellar, but they're right about Fishtail :-*

Who gives a **** about critics. For the love of God leave that discussion/complaining in the separate reviews thread.

ppl switching on the album because lana didn't get validation from critics is just :rip:

Idk anything more embarrassing and sad than twinks who live vicariously through a popstar's achievements

We should delete the last few pages and go back to calling this one of her best albums again, because it is :gaycat4:

bring Rick back gays = Honeymoon stans, i love all of yous <3 it is okay to want something you want! that album deserved 1000 on MC, the exquisite and enchantingly bleak production of that album is the best sound for "Lana Del Rey" lbr

Versatility is probably why people want him back instead of One trick pony antonoff, who has shown he can only either do that faux-authentic folk sound or Melodrama/Taylor synthy beats, no range :skull: while her work with one producer, like with Rick, for example, gave us so much from trappy altpop to a 60s retro sound to the folky stuff that sounds like actual brand new compositions without sounding like they have borrowed elements from other songs by the same producer. I'd say that's a complete different sentiment than "bring the BTD sound back", because to me, there's more possibilities of exploring different sounds (in a professionally sounding way) by working with Rick :skull:

obviously it is fine if Lana feels like her artistic relationship with Rick is done and spent that is fine! doesnt mean we cant recognize what was good about that relationship and want it back :celestial6:

Letting critics hear the album once on a single tinny speaker has to be Ben's idea :rip:

And when the album ends, after 70 minutes of tinny vocals and an annoying bass rattle from one speaker; I think everyone should’ve got up and applauded. Instead, we collect our phones and shuffle out. We’ve listened to it once, time to go rate years of hard work. I think we should all be forced into a room to try and make something like that. I bin my coke and walk out, questioning the whole profession

oh that's not

that song is so beautiful.... it's an absolute standout

Grandfather... is so big and expansive, her voice really goes to so many places on this album - the best and most varied she's ever sounded.

It's so good that I can forgive the "I have good intentions even if I'm one of the last ones - if you don't believe me, my poetry, my..... feel it in your bones"  line - she managed to make those sound very sincere and not cringe. (Also ngl her poetry does give a better look into her thoughts, can't believe I unironically stan Salamander more with every album release :deadbanana: she ate)
