HOW does a 4 star review trigger meltdowns? :skull:

Only Lana fans :toofunny2:

I haven’t listened yet but it’s interesting how it seems most people’s opinions on this have shifted from “this is amazing omg, her best yet!” to now “it’s good but very odd and not as good as NFR”… and what’s funny is this shift suddenly happened right after that first Mojo review gave the album an 8 out of 10.

:rip:

Mojo didnt revies NFR right?

paris, texas lyrics please :thing:

Spoiler

I went to Paris, Texas

With a suitcase in my hand

I had to leave

Knew they wouldn’t understand

When you know, you know

When you know, you know

It’s time, it’s time to go

When you know, you know

Then the more you know

It’s time to go

I took a trip to Spain

Just a notebook in my hand

And I went tosee

Some friends of mine

Down in Florence, Alabama

When you know, you know

When you know, you know

It’s time, it’s time to go

When you know, you know

That it’s time to leave

Like the summer breeze

When everyone’s star is bright

Brighter than you are

It’s time to go

And you’re the only one left

Dancing with it on the floor

Time to go

I flew back home

It’s exactly the same

Except that you weren’t home

“Hello?” I called to no one but

When you’re home, you’re home (that is California)

When you’re home, you’re home (that is California)

When you’re home, when you’re alone

When you’re right, you’re right

When you’re right, you’re right

Even when you’re wrong

this is her best-written and most ambitious album yet, my favourite from her and so different from the previous albums yet somehow it's reminiscent of them? as if she took what worked and pushed it further? and we're still yet to hear a song that sounds super promising by the snippet :jonny:

totally agreed with you, she really pushed herself forward with this record after a couple of pretty stagnant and safe albums; absolutely incredible record :jonny: can't wait for Candy Necklace

The last 3 songs I'll need to listen to again whilst inebriated. Might be nice to have some Lana songs appropriate for social gatherings

i got more into the album but fingertips is still a bore, the intro to grants kills the rest of the song & fishtail sounds like a soundcloud demo

my personal highlights are A&W, Kintsugi, Paris Texas & Grandfather

I actually love the interludes; I just wish the Judah Smith interlude was a minute or two shorter. Can't wait to see how Candy Necklace fits in between.

I will never understand peoples inability to sit through a 40 second intro on the grants :deadbanana:

Same. It's also really charming, and their harmonies are beautiful? People are weird.

That intro is what saves The Grants for me :gaycat2:

People do the MOST with the Grants' intro. Go stan someone else. She clearly means something when she puts the intro like that. She explained in the interview it makes total sense.

Those fishtail stans kinda lost, it's just there really, the White Mustank of this album :foxaylove2:

Dancing there in the hot hot sun

I know that we’ve got problems

I plan to address them another day

Palm trees in black and white I see in technicolor

Maybe I’ll take my glasses off so I stop painting red flags green

Lately I’ve been sunning in the LA river bed

Wearing nothing but the summer bruises on my knees

i'm praying for you gentledance... the white mustank comparison made me gag and not in a good way...

The lyrics are great, but it sounds a mess, maybe it's too ahead of its time for me

You hate Fishtail and you hate Blue Banisters, I expected more from a Fiona stan! I thought all Fiona stans were supposed to have great taste.

So tired of this wait

I love this album. I think however it would have benefited from a more varied track listing instead of pure balladry -> Mid tempo -> bops

still working out my perfect order

This album reminds me most of Ultraviolence, strangely. Or Ultraviolence with a dash of Honeymoon in terms of instrumentation.

y’all say this about every new lana album :dies:
