i dont even hear the sample in the snippet yet, could be related to the quality, or that the sample is in a different part of the song than the snippet? but it's very breezy and warm, it's got a bit more percussion than some of the other songs we've heard at this point, very relaxed and groovy. doesn't really easily sound like anything else in her discog but it's got a similar tempo to TJF. "that's why they call me lanita," she says, followed by lots of other -ita rhymes. i can't hear the guitar very well but there's a spanish vibe to what i can hear

Oh wow! And since she tends to leave the final track as the jumping off point for the next project, her debut Spanish-influence album is coming! Dragon Slayer its revenge :gaycat4:

I can't remember the answer to this - do we have any unreleased songs/snippets from the Auerbach sessions? Or did they end up using everything for the standard edition (plus Florida Kilos on deluxe)?

So I've tried to avoid because of the leaks, but I'm curious.  What's the sound like? What does it compare to?

Those of you criminals (I’m joking, shh) who heard the leaks thus far, would you say there’s some cohesion to the record? Like even with Peppers and Jimmy, it’s not giving LFL in that regard, is it?

I personally think the music doesn't sound like anything she's done before, but the songs that have been leaked so far are extremely gentle/fragile. Some really heavy and personal lyricism juxtaposed with lush orchestras. Fingertips is extremely stream of consciousness, her most interesting and saddest song ever. Everything she said in the W magazine interview about the album being wordy, like "typing in her mind" has been 100% accurate. A couple of really fun tracks towards the end of the record

i caved in and listened to fingertips and the grants

the grants - I literally don’t remember a single thing about this song

fingertips - some nice melodies

A&W remains my favourite so far but i fear im not going to like this album as a whole

From what I’ve heard (The Grants, Sweet, Fingertips) I’d say yes! There’s something so cinematic about it all. If you don’t think Jimmy sounds out of place I think you’ll be good. Like it all sounds so grand that it makes sense that they are all on the same album. Haven’t heard Peppers so I can’t speak to that.

Tbh the only tracks that leaked in full HQ were more in line with the title track - orchestral and grand but not boring. The snippets we have are more boppy a la TJF. Some of the tracks have Mariners kind of wistfulness to them. The instrumentals “swirl” and grow a lot.

It's incredibly cohesive so far. Even the fun moments (Peppers and Jimmy) fit well with the gentle and fragile aspects of the album. Definitely a record that embraces duality.

I'm going to avoid listening for now.

Criminals, anything that gives UV vibes? Not just the "fire" energy, but the specific melodies, the electric guitars, the dark lyricism, etc.

the grants is kinda the least memorable, i only listened to it and sweet once but i can still recall parts of the latter.

i tried to delete fingertips a few times but i keep going back to it, it's just that good :jonny5:

No. Fingertips is her darkest song in a while, maybe ever, though.

it weighs a ton though. it's not an easy listen, but it's worth it. one of her highlights for sure, which says A LOT.

sweet is kind of the perfect marriage of NFR and BB though. i love it and it's already kind of underrated.

It's cute but I find that that one melody she's reused from Wait For Life worked way better in WFL than it does in Sweet, and that somehow ruins it for me :gaycat6:
