I wonder if the album is actually good or you all are just doing what you do every album cycle, claim it's her best work ever and then switch on it once she announces yet another one

I listened to The Grants and Fingertips and both are stunning songs. And the two singles are great imo as well, so I can see this being a phenomenal album. The only thing I’m a bit wary of is the interludes and whether or not they end up adding to the experience. If they are too long/unnecessary then I can see it dragging down the project as a whole. I’m sure someone has mentioned it but are there vocals on any of them? Or are they just instrumental interludes? I guess we’ll see! I’m more excited for the album than I was before. Fingertips really had me FLOORED.

I was trying to avoid listening to any songs minus the first single until the full album was here as that’s what I’ve done with her previous albums post-BTD, but I just caved and gave A&W a play and I am FLOORED. :gaycat6:

IIRC, the Pastor interlude it's just him talking over an ambient instrumental (similar to Burnt Norton). And I'm worried about it 'cause we're talking about over 4 minutes here. :rip:

It depends on your perspective I guess. I, personally, love all of her albums and have never switched like some others. Having heard 5 of the 16 songs, I think it's shaping up to be her best body of work. BUT you do need to keep in mind who Lana is and that she's not giving us the typical song structure. Like Fingertips for example is more like one of her poems, but she sings it. But I personally think there's something incredibly beautiful about what she does with music. It's so different from what anyone else is doing. And to experience her growth through each era (being a stan since Born to Die came out)... just makes it all the more incredible imo.

let me distract myself with the new Kali album. Miss Grant there better be some visuals when the album drops

How would you compare Fingertips to her previous work musically speaking? At this point, I think that's the track I'm anticipating the most from the record.

it sounds like bartender at the beginning :jonnycat: but that’s it

a career highlight overall, an experience from start to finish

They're pretty much instrumental specially the Jon Batiste one, you can hear Lana and Him sing in the distance from time to time tho, the other one is just the instrumental and the pastor talking, they're too long for my liking tbh if they were like 1:30 they would be fine.

It also has a part where it echoes Meghan Trainor's "Mama Wanna Mambo". I mean, you know Lana...

It's her most innovative song to date. I can't even compare it to anything she's ever done besides maybe Violet Bent Backwards. It's seriously poetry over orchestra/strings/piano but coalesces into an actual song, differentiating itself from her poetry book

If you were to mix the grandest orchestral moments of BB with Ys era Joanna Newsom rambling, Fingertips would be the result.

I don't think I'm ready to handle this.
