Blue Jeans Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Billions just hit It’s like a hedonistic ode to modern life’s pleasures, abundance, and her deep love. Our ancestors worked for centuries to get where we are today and now it’s time to enjoy life fully and not worry. The instrumentation sounds pre-historic and timeless. There is no story, it’s just descriptive bits. And then the children’s choir hits. So gorgeous. And the video is Greco-Roman referencing the culture and school of thought that shaped the modern Western world. What a monumental song! It’s been less than a week, but this album is IT. This is it! An instant classic. Those who get it, get it. What a pleasure. And its Metacritic score proves it. Still 95!
Lucas32 Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 This grew on me with repeated listens, it's a very good project overall, but PANG still outperformed
Babydoll. Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 still tryna figure out how i feel overall but billions is still that song. luv it xx
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted February 21, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted February 21, 2023 I’m struggling to find any reason to prefer Pang to this record.
zasderfght Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 This album truly is better than Pang. It took multiple listens, but yeah, this things slaps from front to back. That being said, it shouldn't matter if you prefer Desire to Pang-- both albums are truly great. I'm definitely listening to Pang now that I've listened to Desire the whole week lol

justin. Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 Today it came to me that this album is what the Lord wanted to serve with he Bible, but failed Not only the sound but also the sunny, beachy visuals
Chemist Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 Ooh, I fly to you After all the TEAAAAAAAAAAARS, you're all I need I fly to you Not just somewhere, DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP inside of me
perpetual novice Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 Actually hooked on this album. I didn't know how she would be able to meet or exceed the bar Pang set but she went way past it. I feel like in everyone's quest to sound "different" these days they all sound the same, but Caroline is still on a path of her own. Blood & Butter, Crude Drawing of an Angel, Butterfly Net and Billions are career highs for her.
JoeAg Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 paint the picture in blood and butter holy water fire in the sky

MonsterJohn Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 the 1 - 5 punches from Bunny to Fly to you
Solgayleo Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 This will be my AOTY. She truly delivered a classic. My top picks after a few listens: 1. Smoke 2. Bunny is a Rider (still THAT song) 3. Sunset (this one really grew on me) 4. Crude Drawing of an Angel literally no bad songs though. And this will probably change after a few more listens. I love the 90s/Y2K inspirations peppered throughout - Danny and her use a much lighter touch than most artists tapping into those nostalgic sounds. It’s hard to find artists making truly original-sounding pop music these days, but this album achieves that on every song.

theweekend Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 the way this stomps on Pang I just can't butterfly net and fly to you are everything and on every song that was pre released. I believe, smoke, pretty in possible and b&b are great too. I really felt this project very instant even though the songs are not radio friendly or made to be a hit which is so interesting because she truly can make the music she wants without the need to be a sell out.
