There are definitely a lot of mentally ill people on the streets here in NYC. This is a controversial topic. But can someone educate me.. why do NYC and especially LA and SF have so many more mentally ill people outside than cities like London and Paris? What is the problem and solution?

It can’t. Not saying this is the solution but there are a lot of people who are never going to accept help.

This. Forcing them into hospitals isn’t the right way to do it, but I have seen plenty of mentally ill homeless individuals who simply refuse aid because of paranoia and the trauma that being homeless can cause.

I’ll say Atlanta is one of the bigger cities in the US where I truly had like 0 issues with homeless individuals and even when they’d interact with you there wasn’t any harassment. Totally the opposite in NYC

Got any better ideas? My friend was just punched on the subway by an EDP and given a black eye completely at random

Social Welfare?  so people don’t turn up on the streets and use drugs 

 

just locking the mentally I’ll away doesn’t fix the issue, it’s just putting tape over the crack
