Letemtalk Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 10 Years of The Love Club EP https://twitter.com/LordeUpdatesBR/status/1594666415893741568 The Love Club EP was uploaded to Soundcloud 10 years ago, not long after Lorde turned 16. Lorde started working with producer and co-writer Joel Little in late 2011. The Love Club EP would be released on major digital and streaming platforms in 2013, and Royals went on to go #1 on the Alternative Songs Chart, #1 on the Hot 100 and she would release Pure Heroine in September of 2013, all while she was still 16. By the end of 2013, Royals would be a 9 week #1 and she would have four Grammy nominations. The minimalist sound of The Love Club EP, Royals and Pure Heroine would be a major influence on pop in the 2010s and beyond. When did you first hear Royals or the Love Club EP? I was one of the late ones in early 2013.
Uncatena Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 but wow what a moment, I will never forget but literally, discovering this EP on SoundCloud for free was such a special moment in my personal music journey. not to mention that Lorde was my age group and wrote songs about our perspective. add to that the hip-hop inspired minimalist pop sound that was really fresh at the time and you had a magical recipe. the rest truly is history.

Desire Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 The teen hottie (at the time) really did that A cultural reset
ahauntingnearu Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 Biting Down HORRIBLE - her worst song until Solar Feces was released. The rest of the EP stunning, however - Lordetha did THAT
Beyonnaise Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 Finding this on Tumblr when there weren't any photos of her, just The Love Club EP art Being 16 at the time like her and instantly feeling so connected to this girl who came out of nowhere from some fantasy realm was such a magical thing to experience. I remember really liking Royals and bopping to Million Dollar Bills, but really laminating my stan card when I heard The Love Club and Bravado. Everything about it felt like a new voice of our generation had emerged to narrate our lives. Whew. That early facade naturally broke a bit once she actually became known as a real person and got involved in mess by calling out other pop girls, but there's nothing like discovering a hidden gem like that and watching them explode, it's very rare.
305 Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 Wow. Lorde and these song changed my music taste for the better. Before I was exclusively listening to top 40 pop songs, she made me want to branch out. I can't believe it's been 10 years
