Given the slave labor and LGBT discrimination, will you be boycotting?

I never cared for sportsball in the first place so yes

I never cared for any sport in the first place especially not soccer so yes

No.  My dad and I have been waiting impatiently for it.  I love the World Cup.

No. Watching the games to root for my country will not help Qatar at all. It will help FIFA though. But that's a compromise I'm willing to make. Hopefully, we get that coup for a 6th time

I don't care for it either way, but even if I did, no. Qatar is no worse than any of the previous countries that hosted it.

A lot of people are betting on Brazil and I think they might win it as well.  It will be their first win since 2002 which was 20 years ago, just like France's 2018 win since their last win in 1998.

Rooting for Germany though. :eli:

It's complicated. In some way the country makes money because you watch the event (but I mean I guess Qatar makes a lot of money for a lot of things we make everyday and we don't even know about) but at the same time what happens in the games it's different. When olympics were in the Nazi Germany shouldn't the athletes partecipate? We got an historical moment when black athlete Jesse Owens won as the faster men in the world in front of Hitler, the man who thought aryan people were superior.

There are like 2 different levels: the organizators and then the athletes. You can use your priviliged positions (and not only cause you're rich but because the eyes of the world are there and dictators can't be severe with you) to tell something. In Qatar there are so many people (like in Iran as we see in tv news) maybe waiting for people of the world coming there making light about some issues. We should waste the occasion?. Now we are talikng or even discovering about a lot of things about this country and what happens so in some way these kind of events can be important.

Are you american?

soccer world cup in the 80% of the world it's like the super bowl. It's a cultural event and only a sport event. Everyone watches it in some way. Not every game but especially when your country plays all the nation watches it.

i’m gay so yes, I boycott it every year

Nope. Why should I? Those football players who work so hard to reach there and for no fault of their why should we boycott? What you can do is not visit the country where the WC is happening.. but nothing wrong in watching it on Tv

Oh please, this entire forum is centered around american pop culture and events related to the US. If people here can watch Superbowl for the Halftime Show or literally any US award show without anyone questioning their moral values, I don't see they should boycott Worldcup in Qatar.

im not happy with it happening at Qatar and also not happy with my country selection here in brazil that several game players showed themselves “bolsonarists” in this election.

but i want to be with my friends, drinking and having a good time, so i will honestly try to ignore all of this and have fun. i will, ironically enough, watch it at gay bars so it will be easier to forget about all of this bullshit around world cup. and yeah, a lot of gay bars will display the world cup when its a brazilian game. So no, no boycott cuz it wont change anything and i want to have a great time.

I LUV watching football during World Cup so I will be watching

I won't be attending Qatar tho

I’m not usually into sports but I’ll make sure to watch and support this event.

Hate seeing the West ganging up against a country for BS reasons and condemn them for causes they don’t actually practice themselves. This is pure xenophobia and I don’t **** with that ****.
