Forgot to mention, since there is interest, that "Big Energy" is not eligible! It was submitted last year and was not nominated. But please consider "Wheelie" instead!

Yup and It's giving (deserved more)

Since there isn't a Dance album category, where do we place Renaissance? Pop or Progressive R&B?

Oh shit, she really submitted it in dance album. Wow. I might put it in R&B, but I'm also fine with pop. What do you all think?

Sorry that I haven't been able to process the ballots that came in the past few days. I will get to them this weekend! And keep sending, please.

MUNA - MUNA (AOTY, Alt Album)

Silk Chiffon - ROTY, SOTY, Pop Duo, MV

Looking through the goldderby submissions, and this year truly was tragic.

@supaspaz I believe MUNA and Rina have been nominated for BNA in the past, right? And do you happen to remember if we nominated Carly Pearce at all last year? She submitted Never Wanted to Be That Girl this year but I swear we’ve already nominated it. (The link to the old thread isn’t working).

Yes, MUNA and Rina Sawayama are past Best New Artist Nominees! Carly Pearce was nominated for Best Country Album last year.

So these four are all previous ATRL Grammys nominees. They are definitely out. As are Rina Sawayama and MUNA.

Kim Petras and Becky G were also submitted as new artists at the Grammys this year, but they have been faves on ATRL for way too long at this point to qualify here. (Mess at Becky G still trying to get a Best New Artist nomination a decade into her career!)

There are a few others who have been submitted in various categories at the ATRL Grammys before and never been nominated, but the ones I would probably disqualify are Anitta and Hayley Kiyoko. Their submissions go back at four or five years, so I feel like they are simply too well-known on the forum already to consider this a breakthrough year for them.

Seriously, how on earth does Becky G, with a top 20 hit under her belt in 2014, qualify as for Best New Artist at the Grammys?!

@Ace Reject, do you know what the rules are around remixed recordings? For example, since "Big Energy" was submitted last year and not nominated (it only made it to the longlist stage in one category), could the Mariah remix be submitted this year?

For the actual Grammys? If a song is submitted one cycle, doesn't get nominated, then blows up the next cycle - it usually has to be submitted as a LIVE version.

But you could create something new!

Also, the Grammys deemed Steve Lacy as ineligible for BNA - are you doing the same?

Ddddd but Becky G isn’t? They are so whack!

Why is Steve Lacy ineligible? I would count him for our purposes.

Real question would be what did she do this year in comparison to the previous years? I heard nothing from her :skull:
