James_Dean Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Quote The suit filed in U.S. District Court in San Francisco names five current or former workers as plaintiffs, one of whom was told he was terminated effective Tuesday, according to the lawsuit. It names Twitter as the defendant. But Twitter told employees it will continue to provide pay and benefits, even though they are no longer working. An email from Twitter sent to laid off employees in New York and seen by NBC News said Friday was their last "working day" at the company but that they would be paid through their separation date in February. Another Twitter employee who received a severance email and asked to withold their name also said they were told they would be paid until early February with full benefits. Three other staff members have been locked out of their Twitter accounts as of Thursday with no formal notice of a layoff, which they interpret to mean they will lose their jobs, according to the lawsuit. "Twitter is now engaged in conducting mass layoffs without providing the required notice under the federal WARN Act," the lawsuit says, referring to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act that requires 60-day notice for certain plant closings or mass layoffs. In an email to staff members obtained by NBC News, Twitter said Thursday it would begin layoffs in “an effort to place Twitter on a healthy path.” The email said staffers would get notices by email about their employment status.
Mikeymoonshine Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Pretty sure it's happened to employees in other places where it's illegal too. I hope Musk is buried in law suits tbh.
Happylittlepunk Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Oops and the way his fans defended him here on atrl. This man is a con man. He always been known for treating his employees like **** but of course his fans will claim he just a different boss and everyone wants to work for Tesla and his other companies etc. I am glad he will be buried in lawsuits like another user said.
XAMJ Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Another L from the genius, he is really not that bright
Chiidish Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Twitter being a sacrifice for hopefully his downfall
Edit0rz Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 I don't like Musk but....from what I understand reading the email he sent to the employees being let go, they are being asked to stop work but will remain getting paid and benefits until 02/2023 or about 90 days from when the letter was sent out. Which while it's a mistake because he is asking the other workers to pick up the slack is at least reasonable for the people being laid off.
VOSS Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 They’re paying the laid off employees through the end of February, I don’t think this will stick
RockStarShit101 Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 mass layoffs are illegal around the world
Leppie Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 If they're being paid for the 60 days, isn't that kinda the same thing as giving notice
