fountain Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Well there’s a difference between somebody being on film and somebody being harassed. If you’re taking a video of something and somebody happens to be in the background, that’s fine. If somebody is being a mess in public and draws attention to themselves and people decide to record it, that’s on them. But if you’re minding your own business and then people decide to record you and even follow you for whatever reason or throw abuse at you, then obviously that’s harassment and where the line is drawn. It’s all in the context.
CottageHore Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 I mean, context matters. I think we should have the right to document strangers when they're acting deranged, committing heinous crimes and acts of violence. Think of all the police brutality caught on camera by civilians. If this was made illegal, these disgusting people would get away with killing people with no justice for the victims. I also think criminalizing filming strangers who are just doing cute things and posting it to be supportive would be strange. But filming someone in a vulnerable or sexual context without consent should, in my opinion, be illegal. It's disgusting. I also see so many tiktokers filming vulnerable homeless people and then showing how they go up to them and give them money and gifts, completely exploiting these people for their own gain. They post these videos, likely without any consent, not even viewing these vulnerable people as human beings worthy of that respect, just to make themselves look saintly. I don't know if you could criminalize that legally but it certainly should be considered socially unacceptable.
getinthezone Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 yes honestly its annoying that everyone feels the need to film everything nowadays
Pop culture Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 No, just wear a burqa if you're concerned about being recognized in public places
wantedyoutogrow Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Idk if it should be illegal but it's definitely weird, like for example that guy on tik tok that literally goes up to people and asks them how much money they make or the weirdos that film people just minding their business
Edit0rz Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 In public spaces: No consent needed Private Property: Consent needed
harwee Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 yes cause those creeps monetize those videos obviously hate crimes is another story
Khal Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 I'm not sure making a law against it would be enforceable, so I opt for bullying/public shaming of people who do that.
MoonGoodandHappy Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 (edited) It's 2022 and i saw some girls on tiktok filming some guys without their consent because they're "hot" and everyone in the comments are like "yasss queen get his number" or "you should have followed him"... If a man do it would be a different story. Edited November 5, 2022 by MoonGoodandHappy
beautiful player Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 No. Going out in public = giving consent to be seen & remembered, whether through memory or digital storage.
