ainadalkaz Posted May 10 Posted May 10 if there's one thing I love, it's watching NYC get obliterated real cinema is SO back 1
Pop Art Posted June 8 Posted June 8 I was watching some clips of the first two movies in preparation for this one, and I realized a pretty significant plot hole to the whole story of the invasion that I can't seem to reconcile. Putting it in spoilers in case anyone hasn't seen the first two and doesn't want to be spoiled. Spoiler In the beginning of the first film, you see newspapers and other media clippings/snippets that imply the invasion was slow enough that it happened in one place and then spread, giving some time for the knowledge of how the creatures work to make its way through the media and such. This seems to be in line with how the upcoming movie will work, perhaps with NYC being one of those first few places hit. However, at the start of the second movie, that same town where we saw those newspaper clippings from the beginning of the first movie is also portrayed as one of the first places to be hit (or perhaps it implies everywhere was hit at once). But...how could the town have been invaded while also getting newspapers about the invasion delivered after the invasion?

Jude Posted June 28 Posted June 28 One of the best movies of the year (I go to cinema every week). No boring moments. Great storyline. Superb acting. It's so intense and emotionally captivating. Props to everyone involved in this movie. 1
Jude Posted June 28 Posted June 28 I just find it funny that the cat didn't make any noises, not even a meow. 4
Almodusa Posted June 28 Posted June 28 My brother and I really enjoyed this! Definitely an emotional film and it was nice to see the terror of how the first day in a city would be like
Gossip_Boy Posted June 28 Posted June 28 (edited) A question for those who've watched it. Does the cat die? lol. Edited June 28 by Gossip_Boy
abelfenty Posted June 28 Posted June 28 I'm actually shocked that the reviews for this are as good as they are. I found it to be pretty disappointing. It is by far the weakest AQP film. The entire premise of the film is Lupita's character wanting pizza There was literally no backstory to the aliens which made the whole thing feel completely redundant - it essentially just felt like an extended version of the flashback scene from AQP2. The original films were great because of their unique use of silence, but this felt like a generic disaster movie
Jack! Posted June 28 Posted June 28 I kind of preferred this to the first two and was way more emotionally connected to the cat than I ever was any of the kids in the first two movies lmao. Lupita, Joe and the cat slapped here.

Hector Posted June 29 Posted June 29 This was a good but not brilliant origin story. The jumpscares definitely kept me intrigued throughout the whole movie, Lupita's bond with Joseph Quinn was cute, and the ending was *chef's kiss*. Fun summer blockbuster
Bentley Posted June 29 Posted June 29 (edited) Spoiler I wanted more of a "what's going on" reaction in the film. More chaos and suspense. they just seemed to know everything too quickly Edited June 29 by Bentley 1
