Not to mention the comeback hype… What other soundtrack singles had a bigger streaming and radio push than some top artists' lead singles? OT: Nice numbers, although I expected more given all the circumstances. It'll probably have longevity once the movie is out tho. Last I checked. Anti-Hero had an album attached to it that was known for months and ,EOM was known to be released for full 2 weeks before. Both were #1 on TTH and had the cover too Rih/Disney announced the single on Tuesday

Anti-Hero wouldn't have debuted st 18M if it was released on its own. LBH. Girl. It's almost guaranteed that AH would have debuted with 20m+ if it was released on its own. We were streaming all the album not only AH. OT: It's a great debut. I doubt it will stay stable considering the sound.

It was a tribute OST song from an artist that didn’t release for 7 years and had a ton of hype leading up to her first release I’m sure her actual lead single will be fine but why are we out here finding excuses for her debuting behind Taylor while diminishing Taylor’s achievements? The truth is that it couldn’t match Anti-Hero’s 7th day and those are the facts.
LoveInStereo Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 Not that good & now watch it free fall! Frontloaded numbers bc everybody was perched to check hear her “comeback” on the day it dropped. Most people only need to hear it once. It’s a generic AC ballad with no soul. Lifeless

Debuting with 9M+ on the first day is bad when, prior to “EOM”, the record was Grande’s “7 Rings” with 8M+? Swift’s record came just this week after “A-H” was announced as the lead single and “Midnights” was known to the GP and Stan community for MONTHS. Rihanna announced “LMU” on Wednesday and it was widely known it was going to be a tribute OST track for Chadwick Boseman. I’m sure if and when Rih. announces the lead single for #R9, it will demolish expectations too. Also, Swift’s last lead single debuted with half the numbers of “A-H” hence why it was a surprise when she did this much this time around. Wouldn’t you agree? 2 minutes ago, argos said: It was a tribute OST song from an artist that didn’t release for 7 years and had a ton of hype leading up to her first release I’m sure her actual lead single will be fine but why are we out here finding excuses for her debuting behind Taylor while diminishing Taylor’s achievements? I’m not demeaning Swift’s achievements at all. “Midnights” broke all expectations (AMAZINGLY) because not even her stans were expecting this big of a streaming debut.

Yea right, it's a common thing seeing artists coming back after 5-7 years and slaying everything regardless the material! Try at least to make some sense based on facts, not on what you think will work as a good excuse.
Monster Queen Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 It a decent start fo such a boring song (for GP, I kinda like it) with this level of radio push and playlisting. But I think it will free fall. God knows why she and her label decide to waste this 6 years hype on this. If the true lead single of R9 debut lower it is all she deserves

ninasayers Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 The song should get a boost next week with the release of the OST and then the week after with the release of the movie. Should have some nice stability.

"As It Was" debuted with 16.1M streams when it was released and only did 14M when the album was released (his next highest song on album release day did 10.1M) "Easy On Me" debuted with 19.7M streams and only did 10.4M with the album (next highest song did 6.8M) Even Taylor did more with the standalone "ME!" (7.9M) than "cardigan" (7.7M) or "willow" (7.3M), which came with album drops and were released after a streaming growth of +1 year. 8 minutes ago, JBJT2786 said: Last I checked. rihsus Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 I expected less than that. So I'm OK with those numbers

Jude Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 Can we all just agree that a 9M debut for a soundtrack is AMAZING? Like why is that hard to accept.

KatyPrismSpirit Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 tbh the numbers are fine. 9M is a lot considering the song’s well… non commercial appeal. Good job Rih
Dreajae Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 (edited) Good numbers. However many of the soundtrack songs mentioned wern't hyped up as comeback singles. Nor did they get #1 on TTH or nearly 30 million in radio audience in a day. Some had a video, but yeah. The intention is clear with this song. They want a #1 debut after nearly 7 years. Adele played “Easy On Me” on her IG live on October 9th 2021. The first verse and half of the chorus. She also briefly teased it before that on her IG on October 6th.
