"But Madonna didn't chart 6-7 albums every week", "But Madonna doesn't have an album with 500+m streams" :ace:

This was only used as an example for someone who said madonnas music is still remembered 30 years later, so in current market standards… i mean Whitney has albums with 500M+ whilst debuting in the 80s like Madonna its not a weird or trollingly question.

I mean Madonna's overall career is still bigger, I just meant that Madonna never had such a concentrated domination like we see with Midnights or with Taylor charting 6-7 albums every week, consistently outperforming all the biggest artists of the times, hence the Music Industry title

To be fair it’s not easy to compare because had streaming been around during LAV or TB I’m sure it would’ve been a similar chart performance. During LAP she was outperforming EVERYONE for example.

So, what exactly is it you're trying to prove? Madonna remains the most successful female artist of all time to this very day. Regardless of which metrics you're desperately trying to find to belittle her success. The only thing you're actually doing here is looking like a clown. :ace:

Madonna will always be the queen of pop.

Taylor more than earned her own title and we should stick with it (The Music Industry).

Madonnas 10th album was when she was 47 sis… Taylor is 32 with her 10th album and its debuting with 1.6M first week sales. Taylor is currently the age Madonna was during Like A Prayer… Taylor has so much time to surpass madonna and thats just the truth. Where was Madonna debuting with 1.6M albums first week and 1 million pure copies? Taylors catalog besides that is also just simply iconic and universally adored.

Name one Madonna song people actually sing in 2022 beside like Like a Virgin. :coffee2:

Let make it easy and try to find one Madonna song that people actually use for singing shows like The Voice or Idol etc.

Papa Dont Preach. :clap3: Like A Prayer. :clap3:

Nah, Madonna will always be the QOP.

Posted

Not the “new” queen of pop. She just had her highest ever debut week with her worst album. Nobody is on her level.

QOP is a boring title, The Music Industry is much better.

"But Madonna didn't chart 6-7 albums every week", "But Madonna doesn't have an album with 500+m streams" :ace: Is that actual ignorance or trolling? Why are we comparing two completely different ways of music consumption and market logics? Madonna SOLD millions of records worldwide. In dimensions Taylor could only dream of. No one outside of this forum seriously regards to Taylor Swift as the Queen of Pop (and never will) other than maybe a few heartbroken pre-pubescent white US-American girls and gays.

"Why are comparing two completely different ways of music consumption ..."

"Madonna sold millions of records ... Taylor could only dream of."

:bibliahh:

Taylor is selling millions of records RIGHT NOW when everyone can just just stream it elsewhere but you think Taylor couldn't do it back when the only way to listen to an album was to buy it?

Taylor had 18 million UNIQUE LISTENERS just on Spotify listening to Midnights on debut day.

Madonna never even sold 1 million albums first week. WHY???

:bibliahh:

"other than maybe a few heartbroken pre-pubescent white US-American girls and gays."

Still trying to erase Taylor's millions of diverse fans worldwide. :skull:

We need to wait and see if taylor can still pull these massive numbers once she pushes 35.. Because that is considered as the MPGageofDeath for girls who make pure pop.. After that she will probably have to return to that sh*tty country music genre.

They don't know Taylor's got a title of her own

Imagine writing non-sense AND meaning it ... :biblio: ... grandma behaviour.

Taylor ist The Music Industry and the Queen Of Pop in North-America, Asia and now also in Europe. Madonna said herself, that her successor/the Princess of Pop is Taylor in 2015. Now, seven years later, she still breaks records. OTH can hide reality but not facts! (Fact: The last known Madonna song in Europe ist 4 Minutes from 2008!, Taylor's is Anti-Hero). And the USA must have many pre-pubescent girls and gays for her to have the highest grossing North American tour by a female artist, ever. :heart2:

The titles of King and Queen of Pop should not be passed down from generation to generation. It's counterintuitive and frankly disrespectful. Focusing on Madonna here, she broke countless boundaries in terms of sexual expression, tackled several controversial topics in her music and videos, popularized reinventing one's sound and image each era, and took an innovative approach to touring that has since become the standard for all female performers. That's why she's the Queen of Pop and will always keep that title beyond sales and numbers.

Taylor is building a beautiful and impressive career in her own right, so it's only fair she's given her own unique title. Considering her incredible consistency and longevity (reaching new peaks when least expected), unbelievable commercial power, and her fight for artists' rights - be it with her Spotify boycott or her raising awareness to the important of owning your masters, 'The Music Industry' is very fitting. :gaylorcat1:

Swifties in 2022 are like LM in 2012 - brain dead, cringe losers living  through their faves life (because they dont have any) :toofunny2:

Since when is that title only tied to sales and chart runs? Good for TS for selling a billion albums but the cultural significance is non-existent compared to Madonna.

Hardly a relevant argument considering she's released like 2 albums since streaming took off. If you added up every time her early albums have been listened to since the 80's then you know full to well she eclipses Taylor. Besides have a successful album chart-wise clearly does not a legend make - katyprismspirit.

No, Madonna has already claimed that title, how about “The Music Industry” that’s more suited for her

Are you sure? I don`t think so, you probably wasn`t born when she was at her peak, and i tell you, she was the bomb, the most famous woman at that time, only with Princess Di at the same level. And no social media to help, only written press, radio and tv. Taylor is at this time at the same level as her but she don`t have the career highlights that M did. But i think she will have, someday.
