I’m happy it’s doing well but the vocals are kinda grating at points (I blame production)

And I’m a Bebe stan so I can take grating vocals but this was too much

Born Again as a B-Side tomorrow would be smart, I'mma buy the tracks on iTunes and her store, never bought a song in my life before but here goes. :skull:

Now girl, let’s not pretend this is more grating than any given Bebe song (I also like her). Be serious

Spotify:
#15 Canada (+6)
#15 Sweden (-3)
#17 Germany (-1)
#19 Netherlands (-1)
#22 Australia (-3)

#22 United Kingdom
#26 United States (+4)
#29 France (-8)
#47 Brazil (-7)
#60 Poland (-1)
#65 Spain (+1)
#69 Italy (-7)
#124 Philippines (-9)

I have to say, this is somewhat shocking :rip: I think the long wait may have affected her more than people realized. To millennials, Rihanna is super iconic of course. But what about to the average 15 year old today, which is the age range who determines who gets a hit? Do they really care about Rihanna? Harder question to answer than it may seem. Her make-up does great but it's target audience is the millennial adults who grew up listening to her, not the streaming audience which is mostly teens/early 20s.

Think about it. A 15 year old today was born in 2007. They have no memory of "Umbrella". Barely any memory if at all of "We Found Love". The first Rihanna era they would've been fully aware of would be 'Anti' but that was a more adult, mature album aimed at a bit of an older audience, not bright upbeat pop music that kids would listen to. I think Beyonce finds herself in a similar predicament which is why 'Renaissance' Spotify numbers aren't great. Taylor aggressively going back to bright colours and cheesy music for 'Lover' may have been a good strategy in the end, it seemed to reintroduce her to younger audiences.
