I played this for a GP friend the other day and he made me shut it off. He said the instrumentation annoyed him. :deadbanana2:

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for listening.

I was surprised because he typically likes slower songs like this. I like the song and think she sounds great, but can really only enjoy it in small doses at very specific times. I'm sure it will work well in the movie. :celestial3:

The guy that I share an office with at work started to play this and turned it off after about 20 seconds and stated “Why does this sound so jarring and abrasive?” I kinda noticed it too when she belted the song from the beginning. Her voice had a strain that I wasn’t used to hearing that made it a bit unpleasant to my ears at first. It seems as though the song becomes more digestible toward the middle with some signature Rihanna vocals. I’m still on the fence about this.

Omg besh*ts are so pressed and starting create a lot of fics to this song. Anyways, with a soundtrack she dethrone bms :coffee:

I played this in my apartment and my neighbors started to knock on my door and asked me the title of the song. They immediately ran to search the song on YouTube and I heard them playing it on their speakers. Around 20 neighbors came in. :foxaylove2:

17 (-10) Lift me up

Who would have thought even SZA (#2 on AM) out of all people would be outcharting Rihanna…2022 full of surprises!

I'm going to be sick.

Let's hope the writing camps come through for the R9 lead.

They want us to believe them that they are playing a song that they hate to random people:rip:

Yes, the song starts where it should finish. She sounds GRATING on that first LIIIIIIIIFT ME UP it ruins the entire thing. But they knew it and released the instrumental to fix this situation.

This is false. People can use Shazam now.

I’m entitled to have an honest opinion on a music forum. Not everyone will like the same thing. That’s what you learn in life as you mature. Best!

I do agree she sounds kinda grating when she sings the opening line. Like, her voice sounds too loud for the song, which is soft and even quiet. :lakitu:

So sad that this is flopping

When you consider the comeback hype, movie hype, radio push and massive playlisting, this is undeniably an underperformance. I won't use the 'flop' word yet, need to see how the song will hold for upcoming weeks.

I think her vocal delivery strikes the perfect tone...according to the film's director, the song plays in the middle of the final scene of the movie when the tides turn....to me that sounds like an emotional fight scene where they go from being down and out to triumph with possibly a flashback of T'Challa incorporated into the scene.

People need to realize the song's objective is to amplify the movie experience (a specific scene in this instance).....obsessing about where it charts is pointless

Rihanna, I love you but I’m over this ******* song. Beautiful yes, but who caress

This was a goddamn bad decision and I’m actually furious. A total waste, a WASTE!!!!!!

But seriously I don't understand why people want a generic upbeat pop sound? This is tribute song for Chadwick :gaycat6:

I took your advice and played the song so my neighbors could hear, hoping to make some new friends. :duca: My neighbors held an emergency meeting and all confronted the landlord about having me evicted. The landlord agreed and I have to be out by morning. Now I'm screaming, crying, shaking & projectile vomiting. Help me, sis. :WAP:  :katie:
