Adrian Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I listened to this 10 times in a row. It gets stuck in your head but lacks production-wise.

Then comes into the equation the longevity aspect…I mean look at Carolina debuting with more than Shallow and has yet to crack 100M…(don’t even need to mention Shallow that is going to hit 2Billion in the coming months) Song will do 7-8M first day probably since the comeback hype +Black Panther + 100M Spotify playlist will do it’s thing. We’ll see how it’ll do in the long run.
Starkboy Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 this 2nd day fall talk is sending me. you all just want to see her fail lmao

ciara Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I can't at some of you expecting so much from this release. it's a SOUNDTRACK Song, that's supposed to honor Chad Bostwick. It's not her actual comeback song from her new project! Either yall slow or are pretending to be. Considering that she's doing the superbowl which is still months away, I think this was the perfect song to kind of subtly "break the ice" from her long musical hiatus and it makes perfect sense to do this for a soundtrack/movie. This could ultimately earn her an Oscar nom which in return could add to her legacy. Now, there's some heavy competition for an Oscar but even if was just nominated that still would be a highlight. On a sidenote - I personally enjoyed the song. It's very warm and soothing. I like that it's different from what people were maybe expecting and that it highlights her growth as a vocalist. I did hear some aging in her voice but it's very beautiful nonetheless.
bijonse Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Rih definitely grew as an artist the song is beautiful her voice sounds amazing i love this for her. The song isn’t ear candy like I was expecting but I didn’t know it was supposed to be a tribute to Chadwick, when you put it in that context its sooooo much more beautiful
Alex21kw Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 It just doesn't work like that, you can't ask the GP "hey GP, pretend like this isn't the first song Rihanna released in 6 years and be sure to keep that hype for the REAL lead single". She was in one of those once in a lifetime opportunities for a major pop artist to have a Hello style comeback because everyone was aware she disappeared from the musical scene and her return was hugely anticipated. But this songs proves she has a different strategy. Who knows why, maybe she wanted a subtle return. Or the Disney money was simply just that good. Anyway, the song is cute but boring. She sounds lovely!
seancarter Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 if any other artist sang this song y'all would call it boring and basic.. but because it's rihanna people are praising it.. no I was not expecting another ''work or rudeboy'' but I've heard better songs written for movies.... its good... but nothing special
publikcitizen Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 oh my god, this song is amazing! it's so warm and inviting. a really gorgeous song that is perfect for this film. The GP will love this.
AcidPrince Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Wtf is this i love rihanna but this song has no potential
RihRihGirrrl Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 The simple harp driven production works so well with the song's context and Rih's vocal delivery
Marla Singer Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I don't really like the song but her voice sounds really good, especially considering she probably hadn't sang a note for years before recording this.
IVY Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Her voice is beautiful but the song doesn't go anywhere, I expected more.
MrFenty Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 10 years ago when WFL came out, half of ATRL hated it. It was too repetitive. They hated Diamonds. They hated Work. This woman has been polarizing her entire career, and this is nothing new. Say what you will about the song, but I think it did what it needed to for her return: It shows that her voice has matured, she's still artistically focused, and she hasn't abandoned music the way everyone thought. She was never going to please everyone. I love it though.

If you don’t want a movie Oscar bait ballad then move on. Her actual album era will come next year.

Gringo Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I had no expectations about this song, so I'm pleasantly surprised. Her vocal delivery in this song is truly beyond words. I don't get why people compare it with Hold My Hand when these songs sound nothing alike.
Cloy Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Wait, people were legit hoping a song accompanying a movie about grief was going to be an epic bop? You guys do know BP 2 is a sad tribute movie to Chadwick, right?
Rigalo Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I just don’t see any realm in which this song could actually be a hit but I guess her comeback didn’t HAVE to be a smash I like the song for what it is, certainly not unlistenable or bad by any means
