I’ve always said Rihanna has a good voice for radio but I didn’t like her vocal performance here. really? maybe it’s the mix, because i do think it could’ve been better, but her voice has a warmth to it for me that i haven’t really heard before.
♛| Rex_Sove Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 (edited) This song is so gorgeous. Some people don’t understand simplicity and nuance. If you really resonate with the lyrics it hits so much more. Here she sounds genuinely emotional and not trying to show off anything. It’s understanded like she’s singing to her lover. I love it. Ratviolo Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I think the main issue some people have with this is the fact it's being branded and promoted as her big comeback so the expectations were set to be as high as it gets. However, the song is still beautiful and I'm sure she's not going to disappoint us with the upcoming era. It's so good to have her back and hear her voice on new songs
RandomHooker Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 A horrendous snoozefest. It's good to hear her voice on a new song after such a long time though.
nicholas Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 chile idk why everyone was expecting this to be her first single banger type of song... like its for a soundtrack and also its in tribute to chadwick boseman.. i think the songs cute definitely wish for somthing better but i'll just keep that expectation with her album single release instead

ATRL is kinda like a bubble nn As an example from just this week, ATRL dragged Midnights and look what happened. Whatever ATRL dislikes smashes, this bodes well for Rih And deserved, the song is gorgeous. I haven't realized how much I've missed her voice on songs
Jude Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Idc what atrl say, this is an extremely beautiful mesmerizing song.

This feels like a continuation of the ballads on ANTI, which I feel have the same feel, simple and very vulnerable. It's so, so gentle, I love that this side of Rih get's to shine
Mezter Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 It’s beautiful and it’s one of her best vocal performances yet. But it is definitely underwhelming, even though it’s a soundtrack song. Like, All The Stars and Pray For me were bops. Why we acting like she couldn’t serve bop?
Theshigo Washidu Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 The vocals are lacking emotion. It's understandable as this is a tribute to Chadwick, it's not going to be a bop and that's fine. The song could have been more sonically interesting.
Bacardo Royale Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I feel like this song would have worked better as a duet or benefitted from a choir at the end , Rih was trying to do things with her voice that she doesn't have the range for. But yeah I still think it's a beautiful song

mariahcarey Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I can't believe people don't like this. I think it's good. It won't go anywhere on the charts coz it's so slow but it didn't deserve the negativity that it's getting. The only thing I dislike is that her voice is now quite deep.
