I think her voice is the worst I’ve ever heard it and that is just me being honest. I’ve always said Rihanna has a good voice for radio but I didn’t like her vocal performance here.

really? maybe it’s the mix, because i do think it could’ve been better, but her voice has a warmth to it for me that i haven’t really heard before.

This song is so gorgeous. Some people don’t understand simplicity and nuance. If you really resonate with the lyrics it hits so much more. Here she sounds genuinely emotional and not trying to show off anything. It’s understanded like she’s singing to her lover. I love it.

I think the main issue some people have with this is the fact it's being branded and promoted as her big comeback so the expectations were set to be as high as it gets. However, the song is still beautiful and I'm sure she's not going to disappoint us with the upcoming era. It's so good to have her back and hear her voice on new songs :heart2:

TRASH. Go back to selling makeup

A horrendous snoozefest. It's good to hear her voice on a new song after such a long time though. :clap3:

chile idk why everyone was expecting this to be her first single banger type of song... like its for a soundtrack and also its in tribute to chadwick boseman.. i think the songs cute definitely wish for somthing better but i'll just keep that expectation with her album single release instead

Whoever said dat made points though, up til I logged in on ATRL today all the reactions I've seen on Tik Tok / Youtube / Twitter are folks praising the song and being moved to tears. ATRL is kinda like a bubble nn

As an example from just this week, ATRL dragged Midnights and look what happened. Whatever ATRL dislikes smashes, this bodes well for Rih

And deserved, the song is gorgeous. I haven't realized how much I've missed her voice on songs :jonnycat:

A reasonable sized debut, stability for a week or two after the movie comes out. However in the long run I don't see it having much longevity

This feels like a continuation of the ballads on ANTI, which I feel have the same feel, simple and very vulnerable. It's so, so gentle, I love that this side of Rih get's to shine

It’s beautiful and it’s one of her best vocal performances yet. But it is definitely underwhelming, even though it’s a soundtrack song. Like, All The Stars and Pray For me were bops. Why we acting like she couldn’t serve bop?

Posted

The vocals are lacking emotion. It's understandable as this is a tribute to Chadwick, it's not going to be a bop and that's fine. The song could have been more sonically interesting.

I feel like this song would have worked better as a duet or benefitted from a choir at the end , Rih was trying to do things with her voice that she doesn't have the range for. But yeah I still think it's a beautiful song

Doesn't scream top 10 to me. Something like 23 - 47 - 78 - OUT

I hope it does well, though

I can't believe people don't like this. I think it's good. It won't go anywhere on the charts coz it's so slow but it didn't deserve the negativity that it's getting. The only thing I dislike is that her voice is now quite deep.
