TaylenaStan Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 (edited) I obviously didnt expect a bop, but i was hoping for a power ballad that was building towards something.. This song simply stays in 1 lane for 3 mins and thats it Also it just doesnt sound Rihanna at all, i could see a lot of different artists (Beyonce for example) singing this aswell. And usually Rihanna songs sound like Rihanna songs I definitely think people wouldnt be as disappointed if she released the lead single first But atleast shes finally back and more is to come! vale9001 Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Is she releasing a new album before the tour?. On apple music there is a section in the home page called "the return of rihanna". If she's coming with the real new stuff why her team is using (and wasting) the narrative of her return for a soundtrack?.

Won Critics Choice, SAG and Globes. Sir Hopkins only won BAFTA. It was Chadwick's to lose, they even have Best Actor presented as last which was very unusual since it's usual reserve for Best Picture... I was really sure Boseman was winning because of posthumous recognition plus it is the last award of the night and poof Hopkins wins. Also, the Academy denied Hopkins a Zoom call in case he won too, so no one accepted Hopkins' award and the Academy accepted on his behalf.
katara Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I can't get over how disappointed I am. Literally ruined my day.
aaron511 Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I personally prefer ballads over uptempo songs most of the time and Rih has many that I absolutely adore but this one ain't hitting. It's cute and all, I'll probably end up adding it to my library but it's a bit bland. The instrumental goes nowhere but most importantly the lyrics are generic and don't hit hard enough

I wouldn've been here for an Otherisde tbh. This is song however just builds without ever really paying off.

Hopkins wasn't attending and wasn't even ready for the call because he decide that (it was the year of pandemic and he's an 83 years old). Academy denied nothing to him, just he didn't expect to win so he wasn't there and on a call. Nobody was expecting for him to win, you're right to say academy wanted Chadwick win as they pull the moment as the cerimony closing. Edited October 28, 2022 by vale9001

SharonStone Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Her vocals sound like have declined…she barely can do the switch to head vocals and those vocal runs towards the end sound like Justin Bieber trying to sing RnB…
Jessie Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 It’s a perfunctory song that doesn’t quite punch by itself (might feel different after seeing the film) but it will be interesting to see how people respond beyond the built-in anticipation because this is Rihanna at her most subtle, and her vocal perf has never been more of a showcase than here.
GraceRandolph Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Not people saying “it’s just a soundtrack song” when some of the best songs ever started out as soundtrack songs.

Based on reports he really offered the Academy the option and was turned down should he won. https://www.nme.com/en_asia/news/film/anthony-hopkins-offered-to-accept-oscar-via-zoom-but-was-turned-down-2929992 Quote Hopkins was at home in the Welsh countryside and had offered to accept via Zoom if his name was read, but the Oscars nixed that plan
James_XL Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Is it a good song? Yes. But that's it. This is no Shallow. And J.Lo (or almost anyone) would have been dragged to hell if her 7 years comeback had so much backing vocals from another artist not credited. (It's even more than Lana on SOTB)
MasterExpose Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 It's a cute and still can't wait for her next album. But this song is 2 and a half min too long
Ayanaa Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 One of her worst songs ever... also it sounds very familiar like ive heard it before

allforyou Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Even though I wish it was a power ballad like Diamonds it's still a cute song, I hope there's a music video coming out soon
Brodie Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 This really lacks anything defining about it other than Rihanna releasing it. The sound goes nowhere and isn’t distinct, and the lyrics are pretty bland and simple. I really expected more since it’s been 6+ years since ANTI
Lament Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Not digging it so far. She can create incredible ballads (Diamonds, Russian Roulette) but this one is just meh to me so far…
