single Rihanna - "Lift Me Up"

One of my friends said that if there was a radio system in 2010, Lift Me Up would have debuted at number one on Radio Songs. This is true?

I am a Navy since before a lot of you were even on this site. Highlight my signature, which I haven’t changed or updated since 2013, Rih is there in the middle cause she’s my #1 always and forever.

 

But let’s call a spade a spade, while I’m sure she can bounce back easily with R9 lead (assuming it exists, we don’t even know it does ), this is a catastrophic flop and it looks twice as embarrassing because of the effort that went into promoting it. The GP rejected this entirely, and Rih has always depended on the GP for her hits, not her core stanbase. Her comeback hype is definitely damaged and now R9’s lead will likely produce a fraction of the hype and record breaking success she probably would have otherwise had.

 

Like there’s no defending this, it’s a massive flop and her team are fools for trying to push this as her comeback. Fools!!!

The only problem with this release has been to promote it as the 'BIG COMEBACK SINGLE' when it should have been just a song for the Black Panther OST. Which BTW... Is getting amazing numbers for it being a soundtrack song. (see the latest soundtrack songs performances... Beyonce, Gaga, BILLIE... EVEN TAYLOR) 

 

But the only truth is that it is performing half-assed because it is Rih's comeback song, yes it is... But it's not her own project... It's a soundtrack song and it's not a sound that can easily be heard on tiktoks or that teenagers are gonna be hearing nonstop. But that doesn't make it catastrophic... Let's be real and honest here.

Don’t worry. Everything will be okay. Not all of her singles are smashes and they don’t have to be. I love the song and glad she released a beautiful angelic song with so much emotion that highlights her vocals. And honestly who cares about ruining a comeback or records broken. Like you mentioned if the GP connects with R9 lead that is what matters and will carry the song not comeback hype.

The JUST an OST song BS doesn’t fly when this has radio payola for the first week, top notch play-listing on streaming, 8-9 different videos and various variants for purchase. This was a full fledged single that happens to be on a soundtrack. Stop trying to dress it down because they threw in everything but the kitchen sink and still couldn’t BUY, STEAL or CHEAT their way to no1.

It's like she doesn't have 14 #1s without all of those... And doesn't have another 10 more songs that could have gone #1 with its stats, sales and impact...

I do think it's interesting people are calling this a flop even though it's debuting inside the top 10 in most main markets. We don't know how it's gonna do longevity-wise, but the debuts have been genuinely good. She's clearly still very global.

The dramatics. It is not a massive flop at all.  The GP does not talk about ‘how embarrassing first week promo went!;)’ please be realistic. The GP does not care deeply about this, her comeback hype is not damaged, she’s Rihanna, you’ll eat your words. And I’ve been here longer than you. Bye
