YOU are the one who's making it about the BB Hot 100. OP and I are talking about HITS. And I cannot believe you're making it about a Top 15? Why so you can include #Beautiful? LMAO! How convenient... Literally I've never seen in MY LIFE a more clear example of the "moving the goalposts" fallacy. It's insane...

Aw, let me spell it out for you more since you're still struggling. Here's your comment:

So as you can see, Mariah doesn't have the longevity the other three ladies had. Moreover, in between her first and last hits Mariah had SEVERAL FLOP eras. Or are you going to deny Glitter and Charmbracelet were EPIC flops? Madonna, Shakira and Beyoncé never had flops of that magnitude in between their first and last hits.

to which I replied with WW album stats showcasing your theory doesn't even come close to holding water:

And please. This is Shakira's trajectory:

Two Colombian albums that moved about 1,000 copies each

Pies Descalzos (1995): 4 million WW

Dónde Están los Ladrones?: 4 million WW

Laundry Service (2001): 13 million WW

Fijacion Oral: 5 million WW

She Wolf (2009): 2 million WW

Sale el Sol: 4 million WW

Shakira (2014): 900,000 WW

yet I don't see you calling Laundry Service a fluke or She Wolf an enormous bomb

Meanwhile Mariah:

Mariah Carey (1990): 15 million WW

Emotions: 8 million WW

Music Box: 30 million WW

Merry Christmas: 18 million WW

Daydream: 25 million WW

Butterfly: 10 million WW

#1s (1998): 15 million WW

Rainbow: 8 million WW

Glitter: 2 million WW

Greatest Hits (2001): 5 million WW

Charmbracelet: 3 million WW

Emancipation of Mimi (2005): 10 million WW

E=MC2 (2008): 2.5 million WW

Memoirs (2009): 2 million WW

You might want to consider what you're saying before you dig yourself a bigger hole in these arguments. :rip:

Shakira's years between 2,000,000 million selling albums (or even one million) WW: 15

Mariah's years between 2,000,000 million selling albums WW: 19

Shakira's years between Billboard top 15 singles: 13

Mariah's years between Billboard top 15 singles (no Xmas): 23

Mariah's years between Billboard top 15 singles (with Xmas): 32

And okay! Let's do top ten then!

Shakira's years between Billboard top 10 singles: 6

Mariah's years between Billboard top 10 singles (no Xmas): 19

Mariah's years between Billboard top 10 singles (with Xmas): 32

Thanks for playing.

Once again, you're making it about the Billboard chart. Why should Shakira, an artist who isn't even American, be judged based on her performance in America and ONLY in America? Because Mariah's last REAL international hit was 2008?

You know there are other countries apart from the United States of America, right? It's not Shakira's fault that Mariah has been flopping in ALL of them for more than a decade...

At least she has that one Christmas song to pay the bills each year... :michael:

Mariah also released her most critically aclaimed Caution album in 2018 with an 82/100 nobody gonna mention that. While being the only girl from the 90's to keep up with current streaming girls and always being in the top 10 of streaming which surprises me when I see her with the new crop of  girls.

Now who is moving goalposts?

Those are WW album figures because YOU brought up eras. And they show Mariah having FAR better longevity with strong album sellers (19 years of at least 2 million WW compared to 15 for Shakira). In fact, you said she flopped throughout the 2000s and her 2001 Greatest Hits LP outsells every Shakira album but one. Her enormous bomb Charmbracelet? Only one million less than Shakira's third-biggest album sales number.

And the WW figures of that Shakira song you're clutching to for dear life? Not a single top ten entry in a top ten major music market. Nor is it top ten on the Billboard Global 200 while still factoring in its Latin American success.

Tl;dr: You lose. Mariah's longevity >

Te Felicito literally oustreamed any Mariah song ever except for the Christmas one. And "Monotonía" already did more streams than Mariah's entire catalog x10 worldwide in just one day of availability pls

Mind you, Shakira debuted the same year as Mariah (1990).

Tina Turner smashed and peaked in her third / fourth decade but her career is kinda unique compared to Madonna, Bey, Mariah I think. Anyways thinking that Bey had / has a longer career that Mariah is delusional.

But this is exactly what's happening :cm:

Bee has way more consistancy and longevity with her career.
