RECORD DEMAND FOR TAYLOR SWIFT’S ARGENTINA DEBUT

Quote

Promoter DF Entertainment says Swift’s 9-11 November dates at Buenos Aires’ 65,000-cap River Plate Stadium sold out in a matter of hours following “unprecedented” demand during this week’s onsale.

More than three million people were in the virtual queue to buy tickets at one point according to DF boss Diego Finkelstein, who tells IQ the “epic” accomplishment speaks for itself.

A third show was added after the first two nights sold out. Prices ranged from 18,000 (€69) to 86,000 (€328) Argentine pesos.

I read that there's a company doing a VR experience for this tour and will be exclusive to Apple Vision Pro. That's very interesting if she does a tour special in VR. :duca:

On paper that sounds awesome, in reality no one will check this out cuz that thing costs more than my life. Lets hope she does what she did with puta tour and put it on a streaming service first

Its capacity is actually 83.2K following recent renovations ^

And it would've sold out in minutes if the online queue wasn't that slow.

No, 60-65k is it's max capacity. Coldplay had a stage that was a bit smaller than Taylor's and did 626,841 across 10 sold out nights. They had partial view section open too so there's no difference in seating plan.

The huge gap between lower/upper bowl and the stage is beyond messy though :deadbanana4: it's probably the one venue that nosebleeds will have a bad view.

That was before the four-month renovation process earlier this year.

Its capacity last October (when Coldplay's shows took place) was 70K. Post-renovations, it's currently listed at 83K, making it the largest stadium in South America, slated to go up to 84.5K next year. Here's some insight.

ETA: Apparently the game that just took place there had an attendance of 86K, at least according to some infrastructure forum I found:deadbanana2:

They noted that seats are actively being replaced/added, so the capacity probably increased before Taylor's shows went on sale.

So, is she adding the rumored 4th and 5th show?

Not a 6th Foro Sol date :skull: American fans who couldn't get tickets are gonna do anything to go there fff

Residents in Mexico have priority for the Foro Sol dates so I'm not sure if they'll snatch tickets, maybe with resellers :gaycat6:

The Foro Sol (65k) actually has a bigger capacity for concerts than the Azteca Stadium (60k).

Bad Bunny performed for 57K each night at the Azteca.

?

The Aztec Stadium has a capacity of almost 90,000 people and in concerts like Vicente Fernandez's and Michael Jackson's in 1993 the attendance has been over 100,000.

The problem is the stadium really old and is being remodeled RN so I think it's not usable at the moment and yes, even tho it's bigger I don't think it has the best equipment for concerts.

4th and 5th dates pretty much confirmed. 6th could happen.

Sis that’s the capacity for a 360 show/event. Taylor is using an end stage layout, she won’t have 83k seats available because the stage is blocking off a third of them, and she only makes up so much with floor seating.

A couple of friends “in the know” are also saying she’s gonna add Monterrey (another Mexican city) dates as well. Not sure I believe it though

Could be. All I know is that Guadalajara was for sure ruled out. Apparently many acts have struggled to sell out in that city

im literally Mexican, but these pics you posted are just nice because they're huge crowds with pretty lights... something that looks nice regardless of the venue.

The venue itself is still hideous :deadbanana4:

While you're right about her having an end-stage layout, noting the increasing capacity is important when calculating potential attendance figures. Coldplay had an average of 62K attendees per show when River Plate's capacity was at 70K. It's increased by 13K since, and judging by the Eras Tour's history of having many sections towards the back open, I don't see it as being all that unlikely. Here's a side-by-side comparison of the two shows in the same venue.

These were taken on opposite sides of the stadium, but there are two identical trons on each side (the screens that have Pepsi and Bud Light's logos on top) so you can use those to track the open sections. At Taylor's show, the open seats reach the halfway point of the tron, while Coldplay has way less sections open, so they don't even come close.

With all that in mind, as well as the substantial increase in capacity, I find it completely viable for her to go up to 77-80K per show in Argentina.

I still see the shows being around 70k-ish. Per your example of Metlife, her shows there had around 72k attendance per show (total 217k over three nights), when the stadium capacity is 82k. Yes she had more seats available than Coldplay, but still the amount of seats that are behind the stage that are not available for Taylor’s shows is very significant.
