Kanye West, the musician also known as Ye, is buying Parler, a social media platform that styles itself as a “free speech” alternative to Twitter. The acquisition was announced by Parler in a press release, which said that it has entered into an agreement in principle with Ye that’s expected to close later this year.

“In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be controversial we have to make sure we have the right to freely express ourselves,” said Ye in a press statement.

Parler’s parent company Parlement Technologies said the acquisition would help create “an uncancelable ecosystem where all voices are welcome.”

Parler is one of the social networks that has been used in 2021 to plan the attack on the US capitol :toofunny2:

Even if he was taking his bipolar meds I feel like he doesn't really care anymore because he has the money to afford the backlash.

I'm blaming the majority of this on his ego and not mental illness any longer.  Second to that is anyone remaining around him propping up this foolishness.

Saying that as someone with a late family member who suffered immensely. We need to distinguish.

100% - couldn't agree more. It's clear he's surrounded by yes-men who keep feeding his ego and actively enable his actions.

This whole situation is so upsetting.

Good, he is going to hold the bag. The parent company (Parlement Technologies) is selling a social media platform (Parler) because those don't have endless popularity and will eventually be replaced by the next social media platform. While Parler still needs the cloud services, web hosting, data center infrastructure,... from Parlement Technologies. So Parler will play the role of the renter and Parlement Technologies will play the role of the landlord.

I still remember the white hipster socialist Kanye stans in 2017 who were trying to say that him supporting Trump was an ironic social commentary or something :dies:

This is actually great because the app is a disaster that nobody but a handful of Trump psychos use. It means Kanye is spending his accumulated wealth onto things that wont bring him revenue back.

And with his latests outbursts, he will no longer get the support from the fashion industry and the media meaning his wealth will start to melt away. I want nothing more than to see him go broke.

Blaming mental illness ws always an excuse. A lot of people suffer from mental illness and that doesn’t make them nazi maga lovers.

Yep! This is absolutely right, imo.

The thing is, though, is that the more he does stupid **** like this, the more people push back, and the more people push back, the more his ego gets bruised and he lashes out. It's a never-ending cycle.

Can't imagine the kind of people he's surrounded by. They don't wanna lose their jobs and the beneficial friendship with him by trying to help him. He's just spewing hate freely now.

We can only wish. If he doesn't know what to do with his money then help people pay college or donate to animal shelters, I don't know. Give it to someone who will use it well at least.
