Btw I got 2 WP's for this thread lol (Reason: "We've noticed a history of anti-Muslim threads and comments coming from your account.")

On Monday, a Dearborn Public Schools board meeting in Michigan was shut down as hundreds of Muslims protested the use of LGBTQ books. They held up signs in Arabic & English referencing they are in the majority & that homosexuality is sin

And? Evangelical Christians have been doing this by the thousands across the country all year, and islamophobes like you weren’t saying **** then :ahh:

All religions dislike us and oppose secularism. Why do you think communities in the Deep South are still fighting to keep the Ten Commandments displayed in their court houses?

Religion is a cancer that needs to be stuffed out. Christians banning books about slavery, the civil war, LGBT+ struggles and Muslims doing **** like this are of the same breed. Practice your religion at home and **** off from schools. Kids are there to LEARN, not be dictated religion in their face.

If you care so much, homeschool your kids and **** off from public school. Trying to live in the comfort of the western world but bringing your **** beliefs over? Keep it sis.

Christians as of a matter of fact have in fact being doing this since the dawn of time but do you know why i want to post this?

Its so no religion can get away with being homophobic. Christians are always shamed for their homophobia but not others. In fact most other religions get away with homophobia and transphobia so dont tell me its not true.

Arent all the protestors supposed to be cancelled? Well theyre obviously not going to be cancelled because we as a society protect some homophobic religious groups. Imo everyone in the protest should be cancelled but obviously noone on Twitter, linkedin, or anywhere else are strong enough to call them out on their homophobia.

Oh and also because its recent and has been going super viral on Reddit.

I personally do not support all religions so dont say im only hateful torwards islam because im not.

People who follow these religions need to face reality, stop playing the victim and need to start taking accountability for their actions especially when their holy book says gay sex is a sin.

The reality is that most Muslims do not accept gays, there are always exceptions but they tend to be very homophobic and at best tolerate us. It should not be controversial to state the obvious and as gays we should not have to respect Islam or any religion that says being gay is a sin.

Just because dumbass evangelicals have been doing the same thing doesn’t mean this should be brushed off as nothing either.

Well, hundreds of Muslims are WRONG. Just as books that discuss Muslim culture and religion should not be banned, books discussing lgbt culture should not either.

Pretty much what happens whenever you have a significant Muslim minority anywhere in the world

Like I said, Christians are notorious for their homopbic, transphobic etc behaviour and they get called out on the regular for it but i feel like we as a society especially the left love protecting homophobes from other religions.

I understand, just because one individual is homophobic, it doesnt mean the whole religion is homophobic, i get that.

But the biggest truth that is hard to swallow is how can you say you support gays when your religion is based entirely on holy books which specifically state that gay sex is a sin? This goes for both Christianity and Islam.

I mean, its not surprising. LGBT as an ideology is quite literally the direct opposite to Islamic morality and it is sinful to identify as LGBT when ur a muslim.

The protesters need to accept that they live in a liberal society however. They actually need to put in the efforts to implement Islamic law and morals within their own lands? Why revolt in the US when LGBT is literally allowed there/ (protected from within the government for the most part) Like it doesn’t make sense.

The teachers imo should try to put in the effort to exclude muslim children from utilizing these books if thats the parents wish. Just tolerate each other people :bird:

Yes 100%. I know some muslims who are very supportive of lgbtq community but theyre a dime in millions and millions. But it is also very disheartening when they say they support gay rights but do not support the lifestyle because the quran said so.

This isnt true tbh. In Europe muslims dont wish to put their beliefs onto the liberal population. Thats something you see christians do much more in general.

Part of this is why the OP is often framed as unhelpful to the causes they claim to care about.

There are many Muslims there because Dearborn has the highest percentage of Muslims in the US.

The issue in Dearborn is not a Muslim issue but a conservative issue. Of course Muslims are there cause Muslims can be conservative and Dearborn has a lot of Muslims.

You just have people like the OP who think that because secularism in the US means "including ALL religions in public life" as opposed to how it often means elsewhere "excluding all religion from public life" that somehow progressives are somehow supportive of the theological tenants of Islam.

This is a right-wing operation meant to incite homophobia and transphobia in Michigan:

The protests are literally being organized by Republican groups.

Meanwhile the OP has made zero threads on people like Libs of Tik Tok or how the GOP is trying to make trans people and drag queens some kind of wedge issue.

You must be living under a rock, the same exact thing is happening in France, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, the list goes on and on. Christians have next to 0 influence in those countries

This definitely doesnt happen in the Netherlands nor France. In fact, these countries actually ridicule Moroccans, Algerians and muslims like crazy. Political parties in the Netherlands literally have anti-Islam as their ideologies and in France women are fighting for the rights to wear hijabs. The Netherlands actually doesnt even allow women to wear certain Islamic clothing in governmental buildings like schools and libraries. Muslims get more ridiculed than accepted. Where on a considerate scale do you see people put efforts to get Islamic law regulated in Europe. It doesnt even happen

Is this the same Europe where there have been similar protests from Muslim parents and people have been shot and beheaded for speaking negatively about Islam?

what does it have to do with acceptance? Acceptance in those countries is very low precisely because this population is extremely aggressive in foisting their beliefs on everyone else. A teacher in France was literally killed because a student claimed he showed a picture of Mohammed in class (which he didn’t even do) :rip:

There are millions of posts everyday slamming Republicans and Christians on their behaviour like anti abortion, homophobia etc. in fact ATRLers always post about it

So i dont need to do that when its already been done. The real reason why Im posting this is because i want peple to take accountability for their actions which is very rare for other religious groups because they homophobic, transphobic etc. views are protected.

As you can see many people agree with me but Im the only person willing to make threads about Islam is because I feel like other Atrlers are scared that theyll get WP or even banned for speaking on the matter but i do not care. See how you can freely criticize and even generalise Christians and Republicans and even mock/say nasty things about them and get away with it but the second you just merely criticize other groups, you get instantly cancelled and shunned and get called islamaphobic. Its the double standards that gets me.

These people are Republicans. By choosing to frame the issue how you have to satisfy your personal resentments to Islam and Muslims at large as an ex-Muslim, you now have a thread full of people who are largely not American debating Islam and how they want it treated in countries that are not America.

As opposed to discussing the way that the GOP Michigan state party is trying to mobilize urban voters by using LGBT people as a wedge issue to try and get the Muslim woman who reps the district voted out:

GOP operative:

Democrat who represents the district:
