There is no threshold and big artists in their respective countries have been sent.

Truly? I remember when Kate Ryan was sent for Belgium it was mentioned because she was quite popular in europe at the time, but she didn't sell enough to be barred. And someone like Humperdinck was allowed because his commercial peak was decades ago.

Of course, local big artists are allowed, because countries can't vote for their own act. But it seems like I'm wrong. Anyway, I still don't believe it's something Ellie would do.

ABBA and Celine Dion both competed at Eurovision.

And t.A.T.u. was sent by Russia in 2003, after All The Things She Said became a global hit.  Anything can happen in Eurovision, especially now that the contest is more global and taken a little more seriously.  We've had three global hit songs from Eurovision or Eurovision artists from the last three contests too - Rosa Linn's Snap, Maneskin's Beggin, and Duncan Lawrence's Arcade.  It's not unreasonable to expect another song to become a global hit this year even if the song doesn't win (or even do well like Snap)

I will be completely floored if Ellie does Eurovision. Like, there is maybe a 5% chance of it happening.

However, we saw Cascada (Germany) and Bonnie Tyler (UK) in 2013 and The Rasmus (Finland 2022), all three pretty far removed from their career peaks. Cascada is an edge case, since they had a UK #1 just four years earlier in 2009.

I think Ellie is bigger right now than any of those three were when they competed, but the competition is in a different spot right now.

1) The UK is hosting

2) She has a relationship with TAP and they now have a track record of success for the artist/entry

It is a big risk, because she could easily plop in at 20th place which is embarrassing.

Apparently, Like A Saviour is produced by Koz. He produced the UK’s 2022 entry.

Could someone confirm?

It’s all in speculation of the “exciting opportunity” she spoke about.

He's on a few songs but he's just a producer... he's done many songs. It doesn't immediately mean Eurovision. Plus they wouldn't use a song already on an album...

Oh sorry, I was going back to the point about Eurovision "rumours". He produced last year's entry and some think people Ellie worked with him and this supposed "new opportunity" means she's doing Eurovision :skull:

Btw this hasn't been talked about for years but it's been on my mind a lot lately.

Does the Seeb radio edit of "Keep On Dancin" actually exist or was it all a rumour? If it does exist, how different is it and would it have smashed, also why was it cancelled? Was it because of SFFY?

@Supervillainmaybe you can pretty please give some expert insights on this mystery?! Thank you!

exactly that's what im afraid of as well. they will unfairly place her lower just because she's the bigger artist. it will be very embarrassing and hurtful. And they very well might do it for more views/controversy

You could use a song on an album, released shortl before, though.
