livelikemusic Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 This sucks... but I'm okay, but only if it means it'll improve the album.
ATRL Moderator khalyan Posted January 10, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted January 10, 2023 What an odd choice if she does Eurovision
GRMusic Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Her doing eurovisiom would be very weird. I don‘t think that‘s the reason.
Cqmerqn Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 BBC have said though that they’re seeking a big star for this years Eurovision. Who knows, time will tell I guess! If the next single gets BBCR1 support, we’ll know she’s doing Eurovision.
lola4789 Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 I mean if the song does it good, I see an opportunity for her. But highly doubt she would do something like that. Also didn't they say last year, they were sending a "huge/big" artist as well? But literally no one (outside the UK) had ever heard of Sam Ryder... so would take that with a grain of salt.

The UK have done incredibly well since then. They’re for sure sending a bigger artist, especially as Eurovision is in the UK this year.

Yeah they really did and it absolutely boosted his career, so I really see an opportunity for her here if the song is good. But I doubt if she would do something like this cause it's a big risk
Delirious Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 PLS NO EUROVISION GOD NO OMG. it would be so embarrassing mg

More than happy to be proved wrong (I probably am), but everything is just too convenient. Let me use the Sam Ryder pattern Single: February 2022 Announcment: March 2022 Now, let’s look at Ellie… Single: February 2023 Announcement: March 2023 Both Ellie and Sam are signed under TAP Music. Also, let’s not forget that Ellie also randomly joined Sam Ryder at one of his shows recently to perform a cover. All of this might be a coincidence, but I’m finding it hard to look past it.
ATRL Moderator khalyan Posted January 10, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted January 10, 2023 I mean honestly I would think Ellie would be bigger than Eurovision but considering she hasn’t charted with a single song from this era in the UK yet maybe she isn’t too big anymore
thatsmydemi Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Omg pls no eurovision. Love her but I can't see her on that stage. And if she flops she's gonna be over over

I really don't see how Ellie can compete especially when her voice isn't as consistent or 'grand' on stage. And she doesn't really dance anymore
ATRL Moderator Element Posted January 11, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted January 11, 2023 oh my not eurovision

People just don’t have the attention span to enjoy a long song anymore. Such a shame that last week’s number one from a fellow female solo artist blows that theory out of the water. I already explained to you, in some rare occassions, long songs do have success but usually not because of radio/playlisting support. Raye's song Escapism wasn't successful because of radio/playlisting support, it was successful because of her rapping verses which went viral on TikTok. It had nothing to do with radio/playlisting. Then again, a reminder the verse that went viral was sped up which once again proves my point that people like shorter songs - more instant gratification. Same goes for Running Up That Hill which was an example you used earlier on - and like I said, if it wasn't for Stranger Things, it would've made ZERO noise. A few months ago, I already gave you the list of the Top 10 songs on the Hot 100 and all 8 of them were around the 3 min range apart from Bad Habits and Running Up That Hill. Now with Easy Lover - this song has no verse or any part of the song which could go viral on TikTok. It was made purely for radio/playlisting. If this is the case, then the song needs to be snappy and short. Not only was the intro long and quiet, but the verses were also quiet long and the song as a whole. Like look at Doja for example. Happier Song and Vegas (all around 3 mins or less) were all doing very well on radio/playlisting without it going viral on TikTok while her longer hit songs Streets & Say So were popular because they went viral on TikTok. Haze Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Pretty sure there's like a threshold so popular or well known artists can't compete. And while her recent album sales might not clear it, her streaming stats should in any case (unless Eurovision is really behind the times). I sincerely hope it's not the case. Eurovision is a fine promo opportunity for an up and coming artist, but not for established acts. Besides, if there's anything anxiety inducing, it must be performing for a competition.
Power love Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 I received a email asking if i wanted to get refunded for my Vinyl & there is a date change. Everything ok?

There is no threshold and big artists in their respective countries have been sent.

Ellie Goulding is wayyyy too global and big. I mean she literally has 10b streams on Spotify Chile and is the 2nd highest certified British female artist in the US
