?????? I'm sorry but WHAT is the correlation between a painting and fossil fuels??? It's a museum not a coal factory.

Failing to see how vandalizing a treasured and historic piece of art makes a statement about fossil fuels.  What a load of clowns, they'll for sure go to court for this as it's trespass and criminal damage. Hope it's worth your 5 seconds of fame. :sistrens:

This is one of the best things that an artist could hope for to happen with their work after they’re gone, that their art would be used as vehicle for protest, change.

That said, art has been co-opted by the upperclass. If you were to put your mind into that of an artist like Van Gogh & the significance we assign the material aside, I’d argue he’d be proud. Art is protest.

People are more outraged about a protected painting being vandalised than the planet being destroyed by big companies....

No, people are pondering what is the connection between vandalizing a historical piece of art and the planet being destroyed by big companies, and how does this stunt help the cause

What cause? As though there is any “meaningful cause” that is being represented through those in power. The leader of the supposedly “environmentally conscious party” has ordered more drilling for oil than his predecessor and has brokered deals with fossil fuel barons that will imperil our planet faster.

Any hope of environmental progress was immediately dashed the moment that Joe Biden became the democrats’ nominee for president. Along with improvements to our disastrous healthcare and everything else.

well it's got everyone talking hasn't it. how else are they supposed to go about it? i've seen more discourse on this event than anything else. so far this year we've had an ipcc report, scientists gluing themselves to buildings, self immolation, not to mention continuous protests from indigenous people....and it all made less noise than this. clearly respectful, relevant, peaceful method do not work. but apparently throwing soup at a protected painting does.

The only discussion they generated is people literally mocking them. No one is talking about climate change :rip:
