He was a common customer of prostitutes so this is what he deserved :clap3:

What?! Like seriously, why do men get shamed for being customers to sex workers, but women get praised for offering such services? A crazy world of double standards. And I'm not saying anyone should be shamed for offering or paying for said services.

i found this brave and artistic tbh. they intentionally didn't harm the painting as well. it had a frame and they could have used something much more damaging but they didn't. the speech is also fine, and people discussing van gogh is irrelevant tbh, you can understand that he wasnt specifically targeted

But it is a choice, unless it's linked to human trafficking and/or there's a pimp involved. Otherwise, you can be piss poor and still decide to never do sex work. Though I realize there were less options for work back in Van Gogh's days, but it's still wrong to shame him for paying for it.

It's a stunt. It doesn't help the cause. It just makes the climate movement seem like some radical teen thing that people will grow out of.

I fail to see how throwing soup at a Van Gogh painting does anything but make climate activism seem ridiculous and hurt their cause instead of furthering it.

What they don't realise is the people who care about Van Gogh's art are the people who agree with them. They aren't convincing big oil, corporations, or corrupt politicians of anything by doing this, those people couldn't care less.

Maybe cause prostitues aren't the ones paying to rape someone and female pornstars aren't the ones jerking off to victims of human trafficking or going around forcing women to be into strangulation or rape cause they found it hot when they saw it in porn :dancehall2:

It's work which is why there is so much human trafficking happening, why so many sex workers suffer with PTSD, why up to 86% of prostitutes say they were raped at "work", why prostitution doesn't follow any workplace regulations about biological hazards so prostitutes that come in contact with blood, semen, saliva, urine, sweat or feces aren't protected by condoms, goggles, gloves or face shields (all equipment that would be necessary in any other area where you would come in contact with those fluids) and the buyers get to remain anonymous without any medical screenings? Why spread dangerous narratives?

I mean, I agree with everything you're saying. But I think the solution is that men need to become more respectful of women (and gay men). Especially now with OnlyFans so many girls and gays are doing sex work very voluntarily. Though obvi actually having sex with strangers is much more dangerous than posing for a camera. But even then some of them might actually be enjoying the intimacy and getting their slot filled on the regular.
