There are those who live on the European Mediterranean coast where it gets swelteringly hot in the summer, and their skin can be outright brown at times, leading many to think they're Arab or another race You can have a tan and still be white.

He probably doesn’t feel white, cause the general idea in the US is that white= Anglo saxon. But most Italians, Spanirds, Latinos and Arabs are white. Unless they has direct indigenous or afro ancestry they are white.
FightForTanas Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 I dont want to get a WP for what I REALLY want to say but my God the fact that they are even close in the polls is just.

This is not true. No one would ever say Gaga or Madonna aren't white just because they don't have Anglo-Saxon ancestry.

Most Latinos have brown skin of varying shades and most Arabs (North Africa-Near East-Arabian Peninsula) have the same with what I've heard described as an "olive-ish complexion", though I don't know if that's the right term. Of course there are white people (based on skin color) in Latin America and the Arab countries, but they're not the majority depends on the country to be quite honest. a lot of people from Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina and Chile have a lot of European ancestry (me included, this is why I don't refer to myself as a POC anymore). I don't even have an olive-ish complexion, I'm... "white-pink"

And yes they are a minority. 3 minutes ago, Marvin said: This is not true. No one would ever say Gaga or Madonna aren't white just because they don't have Anglo-Saxon ancestry. I didn’t know Madonna wasn’t anglo, but what I meant is that there is a strange definition of whiteness in the US for people that look more British/German descendant. Like the general idea of a white person for a lot of people are people like Taylor Swift not someone like Ariana Grande for example who is also white.
XAMJ Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 LOL he is an out of touch old white billionaire, he thinks being Italian is somehow not white
Pikachoo Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 the link did not load for me, but does he look dark? A lot of Italians have middle eastern and african origins, like alessia cara

Very true, we in the Middle East, North Africa, Mediterranean, Spain, and Persia region share a lot of features as well as history of races merging cause of the multiple empires ruling the same regions.

But it doesn't take away the fact they're still white Also, Latin was originally used in the US for people from Latin America, but Latin Europeans are somewhat twisting it to make themselves feel opressed

Italians are not considered nor do they typically identify as latin people in the US. Plus the context he's using him being "latin" in was seemingly to refute that he's a white man which is laughable. He knows exactly what he's doing and it's dishonest and disingenuous.
