Have you ever lost something really important?

I once made a DVD where I saved video files of random family videos that dated back to the 80s and early 00's. Many people who have died had appeared on those videos. One day I realized that I hadn't seen that disc for a while so I began searching for it, but it was nowhere to be found. I lost the only footage I had of certain people.

A tiny camera vhs

There was footage from my 11th birthday, family vacations and me mocking Harry Potter 5’s cast on the cover of a magazine :deadbanana4:

Yes… a sentimental letter someone wrote me, a young photo of myself, and my best friend to an aneurysm.

I have lost many things I consider important, but not everything.

Didn’t necessarily “lose”, but I had my first love when I was 16 and had a lot of photos of us. When it didn’t work out, I deleted literally every photo off my phone + the internet. Now the only remenants I have of that time is in my mind. On one hand, it’s sad because I can never look back that time visually, but it also makes the memories even more sacred since they only really exist in my head since I don’t talk to anyone from that era of my life.

I lost my late aunt’s ring. I didn’t know until afterwards that it was her ring. I felt super shitty.

Not even close to as important as family footage (sorry that happened to you) but back in the day when I was a kid I took a mix CD from my dad's car before he moved away, it was one of those mix compilations they sold in bodegas, was all bachata and reggaeton (around the time when Aventura & Nueva Era blew up) but there was one random song on it that was half english and half spanish (every other line was spanish/english & was repeated twice" and had a similar melody (or sample idk) to Irene Cara's "What A Feeling" & a guy says something like "Captain ___(?)" at the beginning but I never knew the artist or name and sadly I lost the cd one day.

To this day I don't know it and it's lost forever and I forgot the majority of the lyrics. It's just poof gone out of my memory aside from the melody/structure of the song. It may have been a demo snuck into the mix cd or something super obscure because it's untraceable now even by the one lyric line I remembered. My very own lostwave track :gaycat6:

My dad and I used to listen to it in the car and made me happy cause it it reminded me of the days when he was around and it was the one song he played when I was with him because he knew I loved it, so it meant a lot to me to have it.

Sometimes I'll hear songs that sample or sound similar to WAF and it reminds me immediately of the song and I just get sad I can't  remember it or will ever get to listen to it again. I've spent over a decade, countless hours searching and never ever found it. Drives me crazy and makes me sad :chick3:

Nothing. I didn't have anything to start with.

Not necessarily lost, but all family footage (including most pictures/videos of my childhood) were stolen by thieves   I have 2-3 pictures of myself which makes them even more special :heart2:

lost pretty much all my family's photo albums during a flood in 2020.

but that's what i get for being too lazy to digitize them when i had the chance :shakeno:

i'm lucky i posted a few baby pictures in Facebook from way back. the only good thing i can say from that hellhole is that they kept all the pictures i posted 10+ years ago

A very similar thing happened to me too, there is this one Sean Paul inspired track that I can not find anywhere no matter how much I try, even though I hear it in my head. The struggle is real :weeps:

Sorry about the lost songs

A ton of saved NSFW artwork that was lost when y!gallery got hacked/wiped clean from the internet :dancehall:

But on a serious note, a ton of photos especially of my great-uncle and grandma on my mom's side that got lost when the family computer's CPU broke. Not really THAT important, but I also lost a watch, that my mom gifted me on a birthday, during my middle school graduation day. It's been a decade and she's never known I lost it nn
