ConceptD Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 I was just reading about zoos and aquariums being unethical on Reddit and I started thinking about the old meme images of aliens walking around a ‘human zoo’, so I googled it. This **** used to exist with rich white people going to look at fenced in black people. I’ve honestly never heard of this before and I obviously knew who black/brown people have been treated in history, but every time I read up about it things just seem to get worse. From the wiki: Quote Human zoos, also known as ethnological expositions, were public displays of people, usually in a so-called "natural" or "primitive" state. ‘Ethnological expositions’ Jesus Christ. Anyways I thought it was interesting how I and probably millions of others have never heard of these things so here’s the Wikipedia - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_zoo
Daddy Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 Yup, I knew about this. Seen a few posts about that zoo in Belgium during the BLM height in 2020.
Companion Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 It is kinda surprising not everyone knows this. New generation really need to know about this disgusting zoos. You can search about the tragedy of Ota Benga who was the one of the victims of that zoos
GraceRandolph Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 Yep, this is why zoos should be abolished (along with horrible animal abuse).
Bussea Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 Yes, I heard of slavery and how racism played apart of it
