Lil Baby is going to release an album on 10/14 and Taylor Swift the week after. If that doesn’t move the charts, I honestly don’t know what will. The charts have been so weak since CLB, and that was more than a year ago now.

After that Taylor and Adele had album bombs in November/December, not to mention the Harry, Kendrick and Bad Bunny album bombs that sent a lot of old songs to recurrent this year.

The thing is, those burst in points were temporary. After Adele/Taylor and the holidays, we were quickly back to sub-300 point #1s. Same thing after Harry/Jack Harlow/Bad Bunny. We haven’t had a song maintain the 300-point threshold for weeks on end since Stay, and it had songs like IB, G4u, and Butter to contend with.

 

If there is one saving grace this year, it is that a lot of songs are going recurrent. There is only one song between WoY and AIW in weeks on chart (RUTH), and that song is quickly falling off the charts. Lil Baby should put Heat Waves and Big Energy to recurrency, and that will leave WoY as the only outlier until at least the 11/19 chart.

Hopefully "Unholy" 's presence will keep growing so that song can finally exit the top 2 for good. I would also love to see "I Like You (A Happier Song)" returning to its #3 peak soon. 

 

Love to see new peaks for "I Ain't Worried" and "Vegas" as well. Things are looking quite promising for Q3, and I'll be looking forward to further developments.

it's normal around this time for the charts to be weak. Also, it's weird because usually in September/October there's a purge of summer songs but 1) there were no real big summer songs 2) because of #1 there is no typical purge 3) there are not enough new hits to start the purge 4) I hope Taylor can take advantage of that and get as many songs in the top 10 with such weak points 5) I hope Mariah can snag more weeks with ALlI want for xmas since no massive songs have taking over with 500 points or something...at least not yet.

Taylor hasn't had a solo single to chart longer than 8 weeks in the top 10 since 2015.

The summer songs purge have already happened. At least there’s more of one this year than last. Songs like BMS and RUTH have been declining rapidly for weeks now, and songs like LNT and ADT have got large negative updates. Even Wait For U is starting to drop on radio. This is quite a contrast from last year, when radio held on to songs like Stay, Bad Habits, and Good 4 u for months on end.

 

The problem is that there just isn’t enough new songs to take place of the purged songs. This is why we are seeing 2021 leftovers, like Heat Waves, Big Energy, and WoY, still on the charts.
