NausAllien Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 S1 was fine. Nothing to write home about, but fine. Now S2 was a MESS. For some reason they decided to try and keep continuity with the first season, rather than go the AHS route and make each season its own story (aka an anthology), with the same cast portraying different characters. That was a terrible mistake that made the second season a mess from the get go. Of course, the fact it was so unnecessarily convoluted didn't help.
MadonnasBoyfriend Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 (edited) I feel atrl played a part in its cancelation. Going after to discuss it on here ruined the expirience for me after season 2 premiered. It was the AJLT thread where everyone would diss every episode and pray for the cancelation even tho I enjoyed what I just watched. Now of course everyone is sad about the cancelation in here Edited October 5, 2022 by MadonnasBoyfriend
Sky Engineer Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 Every few months there's another confirmation Ryan is working towards a season 3...

Leptine Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 She's right, the show was brilliant but seriously only a gay audience (for the majority) could have appraciated its humor in general. Also a public channel like FOX wasn't the right choice for this, the show would have worked better on FX, HBO or Netflix where they could have gone full unhinged.
squishy Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 Epitome of a cult classic. We'll be talking about how it was robbed for decades!!
TheWayWeWere Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 first season is an UNDERRATED MASTERPIECE S2 was .... uhm...bad
BambiStar Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 It broke gay television. Unfortunately, echo chambers only carry so far
Johnny Jacobs Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 Bich me 2 da fack But people are tasteless so it's not shocking
justjess Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 (edited) Okay I just got into this show yesterday and I have to say it is AWESOME. I'm gonna regret finishing season 1 and getting to s2 based on some of ya'll's reactions. Edited October 5, 2022 by justjess
Rainbow Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 SQ s1 was sooo good. I hate Ryan for giving us false hope and saying he was gonna reboot it in 2020 then nothing happened
Bussea Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 (edited) It was so overrated. gays love anything that has a bitchy white women for them to live their mean girl fantasy out through vicariously. Season 1 was cute tho Denise >>>>> Edited October 5, 2022 by Bussea

Mystic Boy Posted October 6, 2022 Posted October 6, 2022 I think i rarely laughed that hard during a series show The Taylor Swift s shades were out of this world
ConceptD Posted October 6, 2022 Posted October 6, 2022 It started so well and I love it for what it was but it was just all over the place. The comedy was fine, but it should have also had a darkness and it didn’t and just ended up feeling like a season of AHS and the finale and killer reveal was so lacklustre and horrid for what could have been an iconic killer. I remember watching and everybody was predicting these wild finales, but unfortunately it didn’t feel like the writers took it that seriously and that’s why I think it flopped. The fact that it was outlasted by the very mediocre Scream TV series says it all. Emma roberts was born to play Chanel though and at least her role is remembered and iconic to this day.

It didn’t have a very clear story and it all fell apart with anal sex jokes and over the top ‘gay’ characters. Lea Michelle wasn’t very good either.
BlackStar_93 Posted October 6, 2022 Posted October 6, 2022 (edited) I really enjoyed the show (not so much S2) and it had so much potential: a stellar cast, amazing sets/wardrobe, great directors, etc. However, the show truly fell into the typical Ryan Murphy trap (see: AHS) of becoming too much style over substance with the plot becoming awkward, convoluted, and just plain nonsensical. It's such a shame because the whole concept was so good and the first few episodes of S1 really set the show up to be something spectacular, he just let it down with piss-poor writing and a lazy finale. Emma, Keke, Jamie and Niecy were the absolute highlights of this show and it was purely their performances that kept me watching tbh. I think the show would've been much, much bigger if it came out a few years later once Netflix became HUGE. Putting it on cable TV was a big mistake in my opinion, it would've really taken off on streaming. Edited October 6, 2022 by BlackStar_93

It's not terrible, but it just pales in comparison to S1 and the location/killer feels awkward and pigeonholed into the plot. S2 comes across as more of a fan fiction rather than a legitimate follow-up to S1. However, like I said: it's worth a watch as most of the original cast return and there are some genuinely funny moments. Justice for Scream Queens: Summer Camp. The season that should have happened.
Khal Posted October 6, 2022 Posted October 6, 2022 Honestly, compared to some of the shite on streaming today, even S2 was a masterpiece
